British billionaire John Caudwell told reporters a chilling story about a ghost that terrorizes guests of his luxurious Broughton Hall mansion.
According to the 62-year-old tycoon, he bought this 16th century architectural monument about 20 years ago. However, in recent years, he is often told that the spirit of a certain boy lives in the mansion, who was brutally killed during the Cromwell Civil War.
According to the legend, the child was left alone in the building when all the men went hunting. At this time, the manor was attacked by rebel troops, one of whom shot him in the stomach. The boy managed to crawl to one of the rooms, where he died from blood loss.
Witnesses of spirit activity say that blood stains periodically appear on the floor in rooms, and that beds vibrate inexplicably at night. Another legend says that there is a curse on the mansion that does not allow the eldest sons to inherit.
All these frightening stories, meanwhile, do not frighten the billionaire himself, who in 2010 survived an attack by armed robbers in this building. Then the masked bandits beat the man and his girlfriend with metal rods, leaving serious injuries.
Broughton Hall's original purchase price was only £ 800,000. Now its price has risen to £ 10 million.
John Caudwell is the founder of mobile operator Phones4U, which was sold for £ 1.47 billion in 2006. In terms of wealth, he ranks 42nd in the ranking of the richest people in the UK.
