If you take the highway from New Hamburg Train Station in New York State, your path will surely pass by an uninhabited abandoned house covered with peeling pale brown paint.

This old house is called the "John Lawson House" and is covered in cobwebs and dust. It was built in 1845, and in the last decade this house has become famous as the abode of ghosts that can move into the mannequins sitting in the chairs on its porch.

It is not known who planted female mannequins dressed in dresses of the 60s there. But as soon as the mannequins appeared on the porch of the House of John Lawson, then all these stories about the ghosts living in it went.

The mannequins were definitely looked after, changed their clothes, combed their wigs, laid books and baskets on their laps, and removed them from the porch on rainy days. But who exactly did this is also not known, the house itself is closed and no one has lived in it for many years.

Sometimes the hands of the mannequins took an unusual position, and the facial expressions on the drawn faces also changed, it is not clear how. And most interestingly, the locals said that many of these changes took place on their own, that is, the mannequins did not change under the influence of mysterious lovers of unusual aesthetics.

Because of this mystery, tourists began to come to Lawson's house often, but they also never managed to catch those mysterious pranksters who seated mannequins on the porch and dressed them in different clothes.

Very often the mannequins looked in a certain direction as one, and there is a legend that they looked at the place where the New Hamburg railway station used to be. It is just 60 meters from Lawson's abandoned house.

In the winter of 1871, a train arriving at this station derailed and crashed into the wall of another house. 22 people died in the crash. According to some fans of anomalous phenomena, the ghosts of the dead people could take a fancy to Lawson's long-abandoned house, and then moved into the mannequins.

Unfortunately, the mannequins on the porch of Lawson's house only sat for a few years, and in 2016, for unknown reasons, someone removed them from there and they never appeared there again.

So it remained a mystery what it was. Some strange art project or something really paranormal. Taking into account that none of the local residents noticed those people who could be responsible for this, the second version is more believable.
