American scientists from Cornell University reported that giant planets fell to Earth about four billion years ago. Read more about scientific work in the latest issue of The Astronomical Journal.
The bombing was impossible without the migration of giant planets (Saturn, Jupiter) through the solar system. Scientists believe that most of the bodies that collapsed to Earth were comets. This happened 3.8 - 3.9 billion years ago.
Experts reported that the results of their work are at odds with the existing geochemical picture, according to which simple formations on Earth and in comets differ in isotopic composition. They believe that the contents of the planets sank into the earth's mantle and did not affect the composition of substances on the surface.
It was found that the multiple fall of the planets led to the melting of the solid crust. The fall energy of each such object was much higher than the strength of all nuclear warheads on the planet. Later, the earth's crust returned to normal. That is why the absence of chemical traces from planets on the earth's surface is explained.
