In the state of New Mexico, in the United States, there is a highway, a short section of which locals call "the road to nowhere." Recently, at least 17 people who traveled along it disappeared without a trace.
For a long time, the state police and tourism department were reluctant to talk about the 15-kilometer stretch of highway where individual drivers and, in some cases, entire families mysteriously disappear. However, the situation has become so threatening that it is simply impossible to keep silent about it.
“We have something like the Bermuda Triangle here,” admits one of the police officers. "The road literally swallows people."
It leads to the San Mateo mountain range, where it ends. Many tourists want to take a ride along this track and enjoy the beautiful view. But now the locals are staying away from her, and others are not advised to take risks.
At the turn, before the start of the mysterious section, there is a small cafe where tourists have a snack before setting off on a further journey. Then they leave, and many never return. Waitresses and cooks of the cafe say that visitors sometimes come to them with questions about the disappeared friends and relatives.
One such incident happened not so long ago with a whole family from Chicago, spouses Millie and Thomas Lowdrook and their children, son Joe and daughter Lisa.
“Mrs. Lowrook said she would be away for half an hour, ride along the road with the children while her husband reads the newspaper over a cup of coffee,” recalls the cafe owner. "She warned that she would be back soon, but she never showed up again."
Many detectives, scientists and even psychics have tried to solve the mystery of the disappearance of seventeen people. But all their attempts were in vain.
