The famous Greek figure Plato claimed that the legendary Atlantis disappeared without a trace in the depths of the sea more than 10 thousand years ago. So this story would have remained a myth, if not for the discovery in 1973. Remains of various structures were discovered near the coast of Spain at a depth of 2500 meters.
Too far away for ancient Greek ruins, as well as for any other ancient people. The conclusions suggested themselves - the remains of that very ancient Atlantis were discovered. However, other expeditions also made similar discoveries.

Based on the proposed places of existence of the city, only one conclusion suggests itself - the island (or even part of the whole continent) were flooded. This seems quite logical, given the geological transformations that are taking place not only in the Mediterranean Sea, but also in the vast Atlantic Ocean.
But why is there so little left of such a great civilization? Perhaps the true location of Atlantis has not yet been discovered. On the other hand, it seems absolutely inconceivable. Humanity has explored most of the depths of the seas and even the oceans. Bathyscaphes sank into even the deepest places. And this is not to mention the satellite methods of studying the oceans.
It is impossible to find Atlantis for a completely different reason - it simply no longer exists on Earth.

Ancient Atlantes
In the legends, the civilization of Atlantis was incredibly advanced - many technologies seem to us to be fantastic even with the current level of development. Against this background, many researchers argue that the Atlanteans did not drown at all. They just left our planet.
The giant island disappeared from all maps without a trace for a simple reason - it was a real spaceship. And it doesn't seem so crazy anymore. Watch any sci-fi movie. For aliens or advanced humanity, space stations resemble full-fledged cities with all the necessary infrastructure. Take, for example, the ship from the film "Independence Day" - a real continent!
And this is quite reasonable, because long-distance travel requires food, life support systems and much more. This also explains the fact that little of the Atlanteans remained there. We find only the remains of an ancient ship that were deliberately abandoned or "fell off" from the structure during takeoff.
Where did Atlantis go? Apparently their first stop was the Moon. There are practically endless reserves of Helium-3, which are necessary for thermonuclear fusion. And then there are open spaces. It is likely that Atlantis "settled" somewhere on Mars, and maybe even left the solar system.
Atlanteans significantly surpassed all of humanity in terms of development. Perhaps they are the ancient race that brought life to Earth. We can only look for further evidence of the existence of this ancient people and believe that someday they will return and answer all the questions.
