The animal was born about two weeks ago. The fifth leg grows from behind his ear and lies on his head. Elsie now runs and plays with other calves in the farmers' pasture. Davis said she wanted to buy out Elsie's mother as well, because the calves are less likely to survive without their mother. Family friends said that if Matt and Magin had nowhere to put the money, they'd better give it to them. But the couple was determined to help Elsie: the calf was shown to the vet and even got him a Facebook page.
