In western Serbia, the population is sweeping garlic off the shelves: local authorities have reported the awakened ghoul.
An insignificant event became a cause for alarm: a long-abandoned mill collapsed on the Rogachitsa river, near the village. Zarozhye near the town of Bayina-Bashta. The fact is that the legend says that this mill once belonged to a vampire known in these parts by the name of Sava Savanovich, whose victims were those who wanted to grind their grain.
The Yagodich family, who bought the mill, were afraid to use it for its intended purpose, but made good money on tourists wishing to visit the ominous place. At the same time, Yagodichi did not touch the building itself, fearing that repairs or restructuring could wake the ghoul. In the end, the mill fell into disrepair and collapsed. Rumors spread around the area that the vampire was out hunting again.

Local headman Miodrag Vuetic admitted: “The people are scared: everyone knows the legend about this vampire. The thought that now he is left homeless and is looking for a new shelter and, probably, new victims, terrifies people. We are all afraid."
He added that it’s easy to laugh if you don’t live here, but from the locals, no one doubts the existence of vampires. The headman also confirmed that the local council advised everyone to hang garlic on the door, the smell of which vampires cannot stand, and to make sure that there are crucifixes in every room.
