Video: DIORITE VASE. Let's make an impossible artifact real! 2024, September

If you are ever in Egypt, then by visiting the Nubian Museum, you can see a very strange ancient artifact there. In most cases, they just pass by and do not pay any attention at all. The museum is located in the city of Aswan.

This city is located in Egypt and is famous not only for its museum, but also for its huge built dams. Part of the museum is located in the open air, there is a park where a decent part of the exhibits that were brought here from the Cairo Museum are exhibited. The most interesting artifact here is a basalt vase.

Researchers believe that it was made over two thousand years ago. It would seem, what could be interesting in a simple basalt vase? Indeed, in those days, many vases were made, and not only from basalt. But the whole point here is in the very high precision of manufacturing and processing.

If a modern turner sees this vase, he will most likely confirm that such an artifact cannot be made without the use of specialized machines - you definitely cannot cut it out by hand. Was there any kind of lathes in those distant times?

What is even more interesting - if you look closely, you can see many traces of external processing on this vase, and there are traces not only on its inner side, but also on the outside.

Some researchers believe that such a vase could have been made using technology that is much more advanced than modern ones.

This product has a clear and consistent thickness of 6 centimeters, and the inner surface of the vase is so smooth that one can only wonder at the art of ancient masters … or the accuracy of their machines. The diameter of the vase is about 130 centimeters.

There are other vases in the museum, but the quality of their work is much worse. This vase is the tidiest. One gets the impression that the masters of the past, making this vase, sought to repeat something that had been made by someone else before them.

Around this vase, scientific controversy still persists. The purpose for which it was made is not clear.

There are several hypotheses here, suggesting that the vase could have either a purely decorative function, or be some kind of technical device - its processing quality is already very high.

There were people who seriously believe that this vase could be an analogue of a modern satellite dish, which I personally hardly believe. There is what looks like a large modern nut under the bowl of the vase.

It is not clear what this is - an element of decor, or in ancient times this vase could really be turned?
