The child was treated for bronchitis, but it turned out that the suffocation was caused by an underdeveloped twin in the boy's chest

Barely just a kid from s. Belovo was admitted to the Kemerovo Regional Hospital, he was X-rayed, and from the pictures it was determined that he was suffocated by a tumor in the anterior mediastinum. She pressed on the heart and aorta, squeezed the trachea, did not allow one lung to breathe.

The child turned blue and gasped only because he turned his head, he had no voice, he could not even cry. It is good that he became the third child in the family, his mother suspected that something was wrong with his health, and the doctors in his hometown were making the wrong diagnoses and treating the wrong thing at all, because the baby was only getting worse. It got to the point that the child had to be urgently taken by sanitary aviation to the regional center, to the intensive care unit of the KOKB with an incorrect, as it turned out, diagnosis - obstructive bronchitis.

The correct diagnosis was made only in Kemerovo.

Viktor Kravchenko, deputy director of the children's multidisciplinary hospital No. 5 for surgical issues, says that it took five days to prepare the baby for the operation, and the operation itself lasted two and a half hours. The tumor measuring 8.5 by 5.5 cm was completely removed by surgeons Alexander Eliseev and Andrei Vasiliev. According to Alexander Eliseev, difficulties arose in isolating the tumor, but they were overcome. In the neoplasm itself, there were lung tissues, intestines, brain and arms - this was a twin of a child who did not develop for unclear reasons.

As Alexander Eliseev explained, more and more such tumors, which are called teratomas, are being detected in Kuzbass. Now operations to remove them are already taking place from two to four a year. Since the end of the 1980s, doctors have seen so many things! A child with eight legs is kept in the anatomical museum of the Kemerovo Medical Academy; a girl with a twin parasite in her stomach was successfully operated on; the boy with the heart outside was also successfully operated; a girl without an anus was successfully corrected a mistake of nature; a child with a third leg on his back also had a successful operation. Doctors operate on six-toed children several times a year.

The harmful effects of the environment, illness, stress - more than 100 factors can lead to the formation of teratomas. And the main danger for children is that not all doctors are able to correctly diagnose these tumors, and a child with a teratoma must be operated on before the age of six months, otherwise the tumor will degenerate into a malignant one.
