In the area of the tank farm in early October 2016, the guard L. I. Ostrovskaya when examining the territory of a garage cooperative in the city of Nikolaev, I found an undefined object that looks like the bone of a giant animal. Turning to the head of the cooperative - the chairman of the charity fund "Movement of Mercy" Yevgeny Vorobyov, the find was soon transferred to the local history museum. There they are more than sure: this is a mammoth scapula!
Is it really mammoth bone? Scientists have yet to determine this, the find was sent to Odessa for detailed research. But the staff of the Nikolaev Museum of Local Lore do not doubt the authenticity and origin of the find.
According to Vladimir Mikhailov, director of the Nikolaev Museum of Local Lore, no finds of this level have been made in Ukraine since at least the 60s of the last century.
How the bones of an ancient animal ended up in the trash can is unknown! Lyudmila Ivanovna (who found a unique find) had no choice but to thank fate for the accident that helped preserve the exhibit for history.
