The Loch Ness monster has been hunted for decades, but no one has been able to provide convincing evidence of its existence. Nevertheless, reports that someone saw Nessie appear with enviable regularity.

TALLINN, Aug 21 - Sputnik. The past week was marked by two eyewitness reports at once, who allegedly saw the Loch Ness monster. It is noteworthy that the statements followed a couple of days apart, but from completely opposite ends of the United Kingdom, writes Sputnik International.

The first message published by the Mirror newspaper is dated August 18th. The note cites the words of a certain Callie Tullett, a 28-year-old mother of three, who was vacationing with them and her husband on the Scottish Loch Ness. She said she was having breakfast on the balcony of her room overlooking the lake when she noticed ripples on the surface of the water. The woman immediately ran for her camera.

“I wasn't scared, but my eyes almost went to my forehead. Not every time during a vacation it is possible to see a monster,”the Tullet newspaper quotes.

The second eyewitness report came two days later, on August 20th. This time, two friends from England announced that they saw something similar to Nessie.

"At first it seemed like it was a shark, but then it became clear that it is something much more," said 23-year-old Jonathan Jones. - Who knows what it was. I hope it's Nessie - if not some other prehistoric marine animal."

However, if the first message was from Scotland, then the second was from London. Friends claim that they saw the monster right in the River Thames - 600 miles from Loch Ness, where, presumably, Nessie's house is, Sputnik notes.

However, since no one has ever proved whether the existence of Nessie is real or just a legend, there is no reason to believe that the monster never comes ashore. Now, writes Sputnik, there is a rare opportunity to assess the speed of movement of Nessie. Since it is unlikely that Nessie walked the M6, which is the shortest route from London to Edinburgh, a rough estimate suggests that the monster had to sail at least 660 miles across the sea to reach the Thames.

Given that about 48 hours elapsed between the two reports that Nessie was seen by eyewitnesses, it turns out that the creature must have been moving at a speed of 13.85 miles per hour.

For comparison, the Russian icebreaking transport vessel Sevmorput, designed to transport cargo in lighters and containers to the remote northern regions, can reach speeds of 23.9 miles per hour. The missile ship Dagestan, which attacked ISIS infrastructure in Syria, can travel at a maximum speed of 32 miles per hour. The record speed that a person has developed in water is 3.6 miles per hour.
