According to astronomers, people will have to wait for the first contact with aliens for a very, very long time. The reason for this lies in the sheer size of space.

At different times, various researchers have tried to determine what chances people have to meet with representatives of other civilizations. For example, an equation created by the American astronomer Frank Donald Drake appeared. It is designed to determine the number of alien civilizations in the Milky Way, with which people have a chance to "get to know". In turn, the Italian physicist Enrico Fermi presented the famous Fermi paradox, which sounds something like this: if there are many extraterrestrial civilizations, then why do people not observe any traces of them?

Now there has been an annual meeting of the American Astronomical Society, in which scientists put forward their assumptions on this score. According to experts, intelligent life (provided, of course, that it exists outside of our planet at all) lives at a distance of 1500 light years from us. Experts believe that we will find traces of the existence of other civilizations no earlier than 1500 years.

According to the representative of Cornell University in Ithaca (USA) Evan Solomonides (Evan Solomonides), we did not make contact with aliens due to the gigantic size of space. Scientists have suggested that we may never know anything about them. Meanwhile, a more likely scenario for Solomonides is contact with aliens in 1500 years.

Solomonides and his colleague Yervant Terzian calculated how far the signals of human civilization have reached. According to the conclusions, mankind "entered" space long before the first manned flight there. This happened thanks to radio and television. So representatives of other worlds can hear, for example, Hitler's speech at the 1936 Olympics.

According to the calculations of Solomonides and Terziyan, our signals could cover a sphere in which there are three thousand Earth-like planets. Only a small part of them will be inhabited. In general, according to experts, the "communications zone" covers less than a thousandth of a percent of stars from the total number of stars in the Milky Way. In fifteen hundred years, the "communication zone" will cover about half of the stars in the Galaxy, and we can count on the first contact.

Recall that earlier another group of scientists tried to give their explanation for the lack of contacts with representatives of other worlds. In their opinion, our Earth is a unique phenomenon, and life on other planets may simply not exist.

In addition, researchers recently named one of the versions of where the famous "Wow!" Signal originated: it is sometimes attributed to aliens.
