Old residents of the village of Pozory, which is located on the banks of the Siva River in the remote Permian taiga, say that all the events described happened in their village at the end of the 18th century. It was then that a small village became the center of mysterious events.
It began with the fact that a rumor spread throughout the village that a goblin was wandering around at night, unable to speak, but very cunning and clever. It was also rumored that this creature avoids meeting men, but abducts women, who are then kept in pits, fed with meat and mushrooms, and lives with them as a legal spouse. As a result, allegedly from these unions, children were born covered with wool.
Eyewitnesses claimed that in the summer, the forest spirit "grazes" on the berry fields in the tundra, steals bird eggs, baby animals, and in the fall, fleeing hunger and cold, leaves to the south, stealing stocks of dried fish or ice cream along the way in local villages meat, and sometimes crushes tied cattle in the yards.
The old-timers believed that this creature is a descendant of southern cave bears, and called it forest, forest and just goblin, but it was far from a bear. An ordinary bear would never have done what that creature did.
Once, two hunters from Shameful once hunted a bear and at dusk they shot some large animal. When they approached the prey, this animal turned out to be a female goblin. People tore the skin from the creature and took it with them to the village.
After that, something incredible began: the goblin began to chase the hunters day and night, doing them all sorts of dirty tricks. Fighting off the pursuer, the hunters fired at him, but buckshot did not take him. In the end, as you might expect, the hunters never returned from their next trip to the forest.
But the death of the offenders did not stop the mysterious creature. Soon it appeared in the village, in the courtyard of the house, which was decorated with the skin of a goblin. First the goblin tore apart the tied dog, then the sheep in the pen. Then he knocked out all the windows and began to pound on the door. It was possible to calm the devil only when he was given the skin of his murdered girlfriend.
As for the further fate of the inhabitants of that house, after a nightmare night visit, one of the women who were in the house went crazy, the other stopped talking, the third lost her sight, and a few months later their house burned down.

But the family's misfortunes continued: as people said, all girls of this clan, upon reaching adulthood, were infertile or died of cancer, and men died from accidents under mysterious circumstances.
