Is it possible that giants actually existed on our planet? Why did they appear and where did they disappear? … Today we will talk not so much about forbidden archeology and giant humanoid skeletons, but about the possible reasons for gigantism and historical evidence.
Dinosaurs and gravity
Thanks to numerous archaeological finds, we have long known that dinosaurs were gigantic animals. What allowed them to exist on Earth for more than one million years?
Some researchers call the main condition for the appearance of gigantism gravity, or the force of gravity, which acts on an object from the Earth, thereby imparting an acceleration of gravity to it. Scientists from the Institute of Marine Biology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Vladivostok put forward a version that during the time of the dinosaurs the force of gravity was less than today, and this was the reason for the emergence of gigantism. And then gravity began to grow, provoking the death of ancient lizards.
Why did gravity increase? Because 150 million years ago, the Earth's mass began to gradually increase due to the passage of the solar system through a giant cloud of cosmic dust, which gradually settled on the surface of our planet. The density of the cloud increased 60 million years ago, more dust began to settle, respectively, and the force of gravity increased sharply to its present value. This killed the dinosaurs.
However, RAS experts recognized this hypothesis as untenable, since it is not confirmed by the data of astronomy and geology. No traces of many kilometers of dust on the Earth's surface have been found. As an example, the mountains in Australia, which are about 1 billion years old, are cited, and the fossilized remains of dinosaurs themselves are on the surface, and not in the depths of the earth.

Atmospheric phenomenon
In the scientific world, another version is considered, which is currently considered the main one: the size of the fauna and flora is not associated with gravity at all, but with the density of the Earth's atmosphere, its pressure and composition.
In 1988 American experts investigated air bubbles enclosed in pieces of amber about 80 million years old, which corresponds to the Cretaceous period of the Earth. Analyzes showed that the air was then much denser and atmospheric pressure was 10 times higher. Accordingly, the metabolic processes in the body took place in a different way, in particular, the high intensity of oxidation processes was the cause of greater strength and, as a result, muscle volume.
Thus, at the moment, the main condition for the existence of gigantism on our planet is considered to be a dense atmosphere and a significantly higher atmospheric pressure many millions of years ago.
Ancient giants
Echoes of those distant times, "when the trees were large", have been preserved in the annals of human civilization. People-giants were attested in ancient times. One of the first mentions of giants we know of can be found in the Bible, in the Old and even the New Testament, where they are called the sons of God. From time immemorial, mere mortals have formed legends and myths about giants.
So, a representative of one of the ancient peoples of the Eastern Mediterranean - the mythical Philistine Goliath was three meters in height and had tremendous physical strength.
One can also recall the Dialogues of Plato ("Timaeus" and "Critias"), which testify to Atlantis and the Atlanteans - people over 3 meters tall.
Land of the Bigfoots
But this is a deep, immemorial antiquity. And there is also a more modern example, which, perhaps, can be called a classic. The famous Spanish navigator Fernand Magellan, making his exploratory voyage around the world, in 1520 wintered with a team in Argentina. On the territory of Patagonia, the team members met the Indians with a height significantly exceeding 2 m. This was mentioned by the team's chronicler Antonio Pigafetta. As a result, the name of this area - Patagonia - Magellan came up with from the Italian patagoni, which means "land of the big legs". And the team was never able to take several captured giants to Spain: they died while sailing.
I must say that the English navigator Francis Drake, while sailing around the world, saw Indians more than 2.8 m tall on the shores in the Patagonia region in 1579, which was recorded by the ship's chaplain Fletcher in the logbook.
The giants of Patagonia are also mentioned by the navigator John Byron (the future vice admiral, grandfather of the poet Byron), who in 1741, as a result of a shipwreck, by chance ended up in Patagonia and saw Indians 2.4 m tall. He wrote a book about this, and according to his stories was even a full-length sculpture of an Indian was made, which is still kept in Florence.
But Charles Darwin, having visited Patagonia in 1832, had never met the Indians of such height, which allowed researchers to consider the facts about the big-legged inhabitants of Argentina to be falsified. But this conclusion is too categorical. After all, you can't discount the 300-year period between the era of the great geographical discoveries and the times of Charles Darwin. The natives had a lot of time to study the habits of the white conquerors and move to the remote places of the South American continent.
Parallel civilization
In the modern world, Bigfoot is referred to as a yeti. Not only does he have powerful body proportions, but his lifestyle is similar to those giants that Magellan's team met and described by Pigafetta. Bigfoot does not build dwellings, sleeps on the ground, collects edible fruits and plants, and does not refuse raw meat if it can be obtained.
But this is common knowledge. And there are more interesting facts.
In 1991, the English explorer Gerald Allston, traveling with several local Indians in the mountains in the southeast of Venezuela, was captured … by the giants. Their height was about 3 m, their strength was extraordinary: with a blow of his fist, the giant killed one of the Indians. Gerald, who eventually managed to escape with another Indian, attributes these giants to a white race rather than a Mongoloid.
Well, it turns out that giants still exist today. Some anthropological scientists believe that this race originated in antediluvian times from gigantopithecus, and now 100-200 giants have survived in the deep mountainous forests of the Earth.
And I really want to believe that this is so, although it is difficult for us, modern people, to recognize the existence of a civilization of giants, because this does not fit into the official theory of the origin and evolution of mankind.

There is an opinion among scientists that since the force of gravity on Mars is about two times less than on Earth, the height of a person there would be about 3 m. True, the muscle mass would be weaker, and the bones are thinner. However, these are purely theoretical calculations, since in practice no one has tested the dependence of human growth on gravity.
Temple of the Giants
Located in Baalbek (Lebanon), the ancient temple of Jupiter has huge stone blocks 11 × 4.6 × 3.3 m in the foundation, their average weight is more than 300 tons, and on top of them three more giant blocks measuring 21 × 5 × 4 m and weighing 800 tons each. Ordinary people cannot create such a foundation. Maybe the giants built the temple?

The fact that in ancient times giants lived on our planet is evidenced by archaeological finds in many parts of the world. And these are not only giant fossilized humanoid skeletons, but also heavy tools for an ordinary person, for example, a copper ax found in Ohio (USA) weighing about 30 kg.
