Residents of the Lady Frere region in the Eastern Cape (South Africa) are horrified by the sheep-born creature and are sure that witchcraft or bestiality (bestiality) has not been done here. People are in a panic and the provincial department of agriculture sent a representative to the region to find out what happened.
Many of Lady Frere's four thousand farmers have been in superstitious fear since the day when a sheep in one of the farms gave birth to an ugly cub, which looked like a half-human, half-animal. The elders immediately announced that the creature was "the messenger of the Devil." Panic then increased and photographs of the creature spread throughout the area.
Veterinary Services Director Dr. Lubabalo Mrvebi admits that the lamb is indeed incredibly human, but in fact there is nothing human about it.
“This is a deformed, stillborn lamb and its deformity is just the result of a sheep infecting Rift Valley fever early in pregnancy. A sheep has 28 pairs of chromosomes, and a person has 23 pairs, and therefore they in no way can produce a common offspring. The appearance of this calf is fully consistent with those deformations that can occur as a result of infection at an early stage of embryonic development.
Further, Dr. Mrvebi said that sheep are carrying young for 5 months, which means that conception was at the end of December 2016 or at the beginning of January 2017. During this period, the region has a lot of heavy rainfall and a lot of midges, which carry Rift Valley fever viruses.
The Department of Veterinary Medicine will conduct an autopsy, and the results will be made public specifically for those residents of Lady Freres who believe in "witchcraft." Meanwhile, one of the local residents said that people will be full of fear until this creature is burned.
