On the 2962-kilometer of the Trans-Siberian Railway, an average of five people die annually. Almost all the victims died under the wheels of trains through negligence. They walked along the tracks near the Chany station, not noticing the approaching train and as if completely not hearing the sound signals that the drivers were giving.

With frightening frequency, the investigative and operational teams, consisting of an operative, an investigator and an expert, went out to the ill-fated kilometer to conduct an inquiry about the incident and establish the identity of the victims. Soon, this kilometer of the Transsib was recognized (unofficially) as a geopathogenic zone in the linear department of internal affairs.

Mostly local residents perish under the wheels of trains, who for inexplicable reasons do not look around and hear nothing, crossing the railway or walking thoughtlessly along it, although you can walk along a dirt road laid nearby.

No circumstances provoking fatal tragedies have been established. There is neither a sharp turn, nor trains standing on the tracks, nor even individual cars - nothing that could limit the view.

The operatives especially remembered such an accident. Then one of the clear May days, a man died. When approaching the Chany station, the locomotive crew of a freight train saw from afar that a man was walking along the tracks.

There is a good dirt road nearby. Why does a person walk along the sleepers, which are specially laid under the rails in such a way that the step does not coincide with the distance between them? After all, walking along the sleepers is simply inconvenient!

The pedestrian did not pay attention to the loud signal. Then the driver applied emergency braking. But even the screeching of the brakes didn't make the man turn around. The body of the unfortunate man was terribly disfigured, and his identification was delayed. Moreover, the victim was not a local resident. His identity was established by fingerprints by making a request to the Main Information and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The dead turned out to be a native of the Altai Territory, who lived in the Novosibirsk region, who, moreover, was listed as missing.

Another man who died on this section of the railway was identified six months later. He turned out to be a resident of the Penza region. Why a person walked along paths, and not along a dirt road, also remained unclear.

There were never any cemeteries or crossroads nearby. Experts in anomalous phenomena usually believe that the cause of such incidents is an underground river located quite close to the surface of the earth. It is these flows that create a geopathogenic effect that affects human behavior. On this part of the terrain, a person loses the ability to navigate in space and act logically.

But not a single locomotive driver has ever noticed anything like this when driving this "damned kilometer". And the death toll continues to grow.
