Archpriest and confessor of the Alekseevsky nunnery in Moscow, Artemy Vladimirov, said that he communicated with the scientist Charles Darwin, who died in 1882. He announced this on the air of the TV channel "Spas". The recording was posted on YouTube on July 25, but only now is it getting attention.
According to Vladimirov, the conversation took place at Westminster Abbey, where Darwin is buried. He said that he is not a fan of the "monkey theory" and it was interesting for him to talk. In particular, he asked the scientist if there are "any intermediate links between species - between a zebra and a giraffe." The archpriest added that Darwin had "the naive idea that archeology will find intermediates."
“What do you think I heard [in response]? “Father, do not be tempted by my theory, I did not put forward this hypothesis because of my great intelligence, of which I now regret. You personally have nothing to do with a bear or a pig,”the priest quoted the words allegedly heard from Darwin. He also rejoiced at the "triumph of reason and Orthodoxy" and invited the "Savior" to broadcast programs in English and Chinese.
In his Origin of Species, Darwin named natural selection as the main mechanism of evolution. He also proved that all living organisms descend from common ancestors and evolve over time. Thus, in the work "The Descent of Man and Sexual Selection" it is said that man descended from a monkey.
