In Moscow, practically on Red Square, opposite the monument to Zhukov on horseback, there is an entrance to an underground museum, called, if I am not mistaken, the Museum of Archeology of the City of Moscow (now it is closed for some reason). I was there several times, and so at a depth of 7-10 meters white-stone Moscow - arches of bridges, roads, remnants of some buildings and everything is made of white stone, it looks like ancient Rome! It seems that no one knows about this museum!
For me, this museum in the capital is like an opening. Perhaps for the majority, including residents of Moscow itself - too! So, let's see …
Museum address: Manezhnaya pl., 1a. Directions: Art. m. "Okhotny Ryad", "Revolution Square", "Teatralnaya". It was temporarily closed for renovations.
At one time, there were even queues to him.
The Moscow Archeology Museum was opened in 1997 (a very young exposition). This unique museum is located at a depth of 7 meters directly on the site of a large-scale archaeological excavation of 1993-1996. The museum introduces the material culture of the city of the XV-XVIII centuries. The basis of the exposition is the foundations of the Resurrection Bridge of the 16th - 17th centuries, discovered during excavations, which in the past connected the two banks of the Neglinnaya River. In the museum you can see numerous treasures found in various parts of Moscow. Of particular interest is a large treasure of silver dishes and coins from Gostiny Dvor.

The collection of the museum includes more than thirteen thousand eight hundred items. The museum is located in an underground pavilion built during the reconstruction of Manezhnaya Square. The central place is occupied by the Voskresensky Bridge - a museum-famed architectural monument of the late 16th - 17th centuries. The exposition is based on archaeological finds from excavations in the historical center of Moscow. There are also unique treasures of money found in Moscow.
Laying at a depth of seven meters. It looks like a renovation and remake for museum visitors, but it has to be based on something. And indeed it is:
This is the masonry of the pillars of the bridge (in the original), which was in front of the Voznesensky (Iversky) gates … Let me remind you that it is 7-10 meters deep. How could he be under seven meters of soil? The cultural layer began to grow vigorously, not 1 mm per year, but 17 times faster, but somehow so that they stopped keeping up with this speed, the bridge was abandoned and it went into desolation. But as usual - I have great doubts about these "cultural layers". There is clayey soil, not humus with construction waste and utensils.
These are not bricks, but limestone blocks. White stone were not only the walls of the ancient Kremlin, but also bridges, and possibly buildings and other structures.
What are the footprints on the topmost block of this photo? As if prints in plasticine. I will assume that these are modern blocks made during the creation of the museum. Or not?
What are these monolithic bases? The foundation of the supports? Has anyone wondered: is it ancient or modern reconstruction?
Found treasures. Museum expositions. There is no exact information, but I suppose that during the construction or during the reconstruction of the foundation / basement of the building, in the base of which the museum is located, they found this ancient masonry of the bridge and many things of that time. Archaeologists managed to transfer this underground find to the museum.
Was the bridge buried? Or is the reason that it is submerged under seven meters of soil - something else? Flood, fallout, dust storms? Of course, after the fire in Moscow in 1812, during its restoration, all the garbage could be brought here. But were the "garbage" layers excavated by archaeologists?
