Many have heard about the Coral Castle of "Sullen Ed", but they know mainly the romantic side of this story: Latvian Edward Lidskalnins erected a giant castle in an unknown way in honor of his abandoned beloved Agnes, who remained in Latvia, but she rejected it - the castle remained without a mistress … But there is another side: the Coral Castle is a very real structure, where everything is studied and measured to the smallest detail. How was it built?..
At the end of the "romantic" part of this story, I would like to note: was Agnes herself worth such honor and love on the part of Edward, who had withered away without her?.. After all, the girl rejected him because he was poor, and she herself married a prosperous doctor with practice. This is a limited person who simply could not appreciate any of Edward's sacrifices. But do you command love?..
Now let's move on to Coral Castle. The total weight of the structure is more than 1,100 tons and is located on an area of 40 hectares.
The castle itself is surrounded by high walls, built of blocks weighing 50 tons each, some of them reaching 2.5 m in height, 1.5 m in width and more than 1 m in thickness. The blocks are laid without cement and fitted together, like in the Egyptian pyramids.
To get to the territory of the castle, you need to go through a giant door, which is a 9-ton stone block. The door is mounted on an iron rod passing through a hole hollowed out along the entire length of the stone. Bearings are located below and above, so that it acts like a spinner.
Drilling such a hole in the stone with a length of 3 m and a diameter of 5 cm today is possible only with the help of a laser. The door mechanism is so well balanced that it opens with a slight push on the edge. When the bottom bearing failed in 1986, it took a 50-ton crane and a dozen workers to replace it.
On the territory of the castle there are huge stone figures of a bizarre shape, among which there are Saturn, Mars, a crescent weighing 30 tons, with a horn pointing at the North Star.

During the construction, which lasted 20 years, Ed himself repeatedly repeated: "I have solved the secret of the construction of the Egyptian pyramids." Is it so? In total, for the construction of the castle, Edward mined, processed, transported and installed about 1,000 tons of boulders. Nobody knows how he did it. There are many assumptions, but none of them have practical confirmation.
However, there is something that points to Ed's method: a strange device was found in the castle, according to scientists, resembling a direct current generator. It is a rather large and complex structure, consisting of many metal parts and 60 magnets built in layer by layer and filled with cement mortar.
From the scraps of Ed's notes preserved after his death, it is clear that the inventor conducted several experiments, the results of which contradict the laws of traditional physics. Edward was convinced that magnets have particles smaller in size than light particles - photons, and their movement can create a magnetic field that holds all cosmic matter together.
But it was the builders of the pyramids and dolmens who used the energy of the magnetic field!
