New details of the shocking expedition to Mars have become known. Exciting Mars colonization project. By 2025, 4 people will live and work on Mars. This expedition will go down in history!
Creation of a human settlement
The goal of this project is to create a human settlement on Mars. The crew is being recruited already in 2015. Intensive crew training is planned until 2024. Materials for construction will be sent to the Red Planet before humans arrive there.
Applications for participation
For the first flight to Mars, a crew of 4 is recruited. More than 200 thousand people have already applied for participation in the expedition. At the moment, 705 candidates have been selected from them, including Handi Beamer. Handi Beamer on crew recruitment: “They are not looking for the world's best doctors or geologists. They are looking for someone who can live in a tin can with a bunch of other people for a very long time."

The flight will be very difficult
The flight will last 7 months. During this time, astronauts will only eat packaged or freeze-dried foods. To maintain muscle mass, astronauts will train for three hours a day.
You won't be able to communicate with family
Communication with the Earth will be quite difficult. Even radio communication won't help much. A typical signal travels from Mars to Earth for about 20 minutes.
The journey will be one way
Astronauts will arrive to establish a settlement, but they will not be technically able to return. And it is unlikely that it will appear in the near future. Returning to Earth could be dangerous for astronauts. During the flight, the crew will be in zero gravity. On Mars, gravity is 38% of that of Earth. Returning to earthly power can be harmful.
NASA hopes to give astronauts the opportunity to return
NASA says the agency may be trying to get the crew back to Earth by 2030. But today only a safe landing on Mars is guaranteed.
Radiation risk
Radiation is comparable to the constant explosions of atomic bombs. On Earth, we are protected from it by the atmosphere. But there will be no such protection on the ship, although scientists are trying to reduce radiation to a minimum.
Settlement will be ready before people arrive
Several rockets will deliver Mars rovers, a communications satellite, inflatable houses, solar panels, and food to Mars. Then the rovers will find a place to settle and set up camp.
Breath
What about oxygen? Water will be drawn from the ice of the Martian soil. Some of it will be stored in liquid form, and the rest will be needed to obtain oxygen. Nitrogen will be extracted from the atmosphere of Mars.
First crew
Astronauts on Mars will have to rely only on themselves. They will need to understand the repair of equipment, the cultivation of crops in a confined space, and of medicine, from dentistry to surgery.
