In January 1975, George O'Barsky, a 72-year-old New York business man, was heading home to North Bergen, New Jersey after he closed his Manhattan liquor store and cleaned up shelves and ledgers. It was one or two in the morning. As he crossed the Hudson and entered North Hudson Park on his way out of Manhattan, his car's radio was jammed, and a brightly lit object floated 100 feet to the left of the car. He made a low buzzing sound and pulled over to a sports field in front of the car. When O'Barsky, in disbelief, rode closer, he saw a round-shaped ship about 9 meters long, which now hovered three meters above the surface of the earth. The ship had evenly spaced windows thirty centimeters wide and more than a meter high. When he dropped to a height of one and a half meters,a door opened between the two windows, and from it appeared nine or eleven stunted figures in helmets and robes, making up a single whole. They went downstairs using a ladder-like device. They were 1-1.20m tall and looked like children in overalls. As O'Barsky drove slowly by, watching him in fear, the creatures did not seem to pay any attention to him and, using a spoon-like tool, continued to collect soil in the bags they had with them. Having done this, they quickly returned to the ship, and he rose, heading north. The entire episode took about four minutes, O'Barsky determined. He remembered all this in consciousness, without the use of hypnosis. The next morning, O'Barsky returned to that place, saw the pits formed by the scoops of these creatures, and felt one of them with his hand,to make sure they really exist. As he himself put it, “Imagine a man my age - and telling a story like this! Yes, you would be immediately hidden in a psychiatric hospital. If you had come here a year ago and told me this very story, I would not have believed you either."

However, it turns out that Hopkins managed to find other people who saw the same flying object. His second witness was a man named Bill Pavlovsky, who served as a doorman at the Stonehenge apartment building, a high-rise building near the landing site in Hudson Park. Pavlovsky stated that in January 1975 he was on duty at the house. At 2 or 3 am, he looked out into a nearby park and saw a row of 10-15 blazing and evenly spaced lights that appeared to be about three meters above the ground, and a dark mass surrounding those lights. He went to the window to get a better view, and then returned to call one of the residents of this house. At that moment, he shuddered from strong vibration and crackling. A glance at the window revealed that it had been broken, and further inspection showed that the blow had been delivered from the outside. When Pavlovsky looked up, the lights disappeared. He duly reported the incident to the North Bergen police, who came to inspect the window. But he discreetly avoided mentioning the strange lights in the park. However, later he nevertheless told about the incident to police lieutenant Al Del Gaudio, who lived in the same house. To Hopkins, Del Godio said he remembered Pavlovsky's story about "a large object with lights," but did not attach importance to it, considering it improbable.20 Another eyewitness discovered by Hopkins was Frank Gonzales, a doorman who was on duty at Stonehenge at night, replacing Pavlovsky. He observed a similar object at the same location between 2 and 3 am on January 6th, six days before O'Barsky observed it. He described his observation as follows: “I saw something round, very bright, you know, … with windows. I heard some sound … It doesn't look like a helicopter, nothing like it. How is the plane? - No no. Something completely different … Then, you know, I saw that light go straight up, and I said, 'Oh God.'

Then there are the observations of the Womsley family. After Hopkins' colleague Jerry Stuhrer spoke about UFOs with the North Bergen PTA (Parent Teacher Association) group, 12-year-old Robert Womsley and his mother Alice came to him. They said that when the family watched the Bob Newhart show on television one Saturday night in January, Robert looked out the window and saw a round, brightly lit ship with a dome. The ship had rectangular windows that gave off a yellowish glow, and it sailed 1-1.5m above the surface of the earth. Then four family members (including barefoot, in Mrs. Womsley's bathrobe) ran out into the street and watched the slowly moving object for about a minute.

The Womsley family lived about 14 blocks from Stonehenge, and when the UFO was out of sight, it was moving in that direction. Hopkins mentions that this probably happened on the same day as O'Barsky's observations. One of the circumstances supporting this date was that both the O'Barskys and the Womsley family noted that the weather that day was unusually mild for January.22 Then it may turn out that O'Barskys, Pavlovsky and the Womsleys saw one and the same ship (or a similar ship on another visit six days earlier).
