In India, two girls were born, united by their heads in the upper part. According to the parents of the girls, 35-year-old Sarifa Khatun and her husband Yakur Ali, they were told that the children may have a common brain.
In medicine, this type of Siamese twins, when babies are joined in the head region, but each has a separate body, is called craniopagus. There are only 2% of the total number of Siamese twins born.
Pediatrician Aatur Rahman, after examining the girls, is confident that they can undergo a separation operation and it will be successful. According to him, in the future, these children will have the most ordinary normal life.
“This is a very rare case,” says Dr. Rahman. “The babies are healthy and well. Their state is stable and they can be disconnected.
However, neurosurgeons from a hospital in Guwahati (Assam state), where the babies are soon to be sent for examination, still have their weighty say.
It is known that Siamese twins were born at home, Sarifa Khatun did not manage to arrive at the hospital, as her water suddenly broke and contractions began. Nevertheless, the birth took place quickly and the only thing that the parents of the children want now is that they quickly "turn into normal" and they return to their normal life.
