Soon, a musician-classmate realized why the player on the MySpace page was not working. It was recently discovered that huge amounts of MySpace data was accidentally deleted when the server was moved. Apparently, the path for sending photos, songs and videos uploaded by users between 2003 and 2015 was distorted. The data loss occurred probably in mid-2018.
For many, this news came as a surprise. They asked, "What, MySpace still exists?" Almost all of the classmates were shocked, angry and saddened.

And for hobbies of musicians and various music groups, it has been the same as Soundcloud for several years. They could create a page there, upload their music and share it with the whole world.
A musician classmate said he would never love music the way he did when he was 14 years old. And he and his group did the same as other musicians. Their group was called IV. This Roman four meant there were four members in the group. It was also an abbreviation for the English word “smart”.

One day the guys sent an application for their song to participate in a group competition. They were rejected because they played too dirty. Only the drummer of their group really excelled. A drum computer played on drums.
The musician told his classmates in the kitchen that their song was a hit. He added regretfully, "If only you could hear these tapes … But they disappeared."
Social media fiasco
The MySpace fiasco shows what can happen when we rely on internet companies to preserve our data and memorabilia. In theory, something similar could happen to any social network.
Do you still have holiday photos that Instagram deleted? Do you remember your favorite music that was in playlists that disappeared from Spotify? Do you remember the birthday dates of your friends who deleted along with your Facebook account?
It's absurd that we trust internet companies with things that are so important to us. In the event of a breach or technical error, such as in MySpace, corporations cannot guarantee the security of the data. Even if they want it. And it is not known with whom they can share this data.
Of course, one possible solution is hard disk or cloud backups. But going back to iron would be even safer. Just print the photos that matter most to you. Write down the birthdays you want on a paper calendar. Copy the music you create to a cassette tape or burn onto a CD, pack the media and hide in a safe place. Even your grandchildren should eventually hear a great song about your favorite clothing brands, with you clapping your hands to the beat!
One of the classmates present in the kitchen had a laptop stolen several years ago and thus his entire music collection was stolen. He ended up buying CDs that no one could steal.
By the way, the owner of IV songs said he called Jonathan, the guitarist of the then band. Jonathan saved two wonderful songs somewhere. It was good to listen to all IV compositions at night. They shouldn't have been lost.
