Mystical zones are not always dark caves, abandoned buildings, or deep forests. Sometimes the curse can dwell in completely amazing places. The Busby chair is a little ill-fated place, followed by a long list of victims who dared to oppose the dead man's words.
The legend of the chair originates in the distant 1702 in the city of Hadersfield (Yorkshire). Thomas Busby was convicted of a fight in which he beat his opponent to death with a hammer. The accused was sentenced to death and entitled to a last wish. His last wish was a glass of whiskey, which he wanted to drink at the bar on his favorite chair. His request was granted. When the killer finished his whiskey, he looked around at everyone and said: "Death will overtake anyone who sits on my chair." Thomas was soon hanged.
At that time, the words of people doomed to death did not attach much importance, but nevertheless they tried to treat the deceased with honor. His dying parting words became a local legend and no one sat on this chair for about 10 years.
One day a chimney sweep came into the bar. There were no empty seats and, under the amazed gazes of visitors, he sat down directly on Busby's favorite chair to have a couple of glasses of alcohol. A day later, he died, falling off the roof. Rumors that the horror story was not fiction quickly spread throughout the neighborhood. The damned chair brought wide popularity to the bar and the new owner of the institution in 1966 renamed it “Busby Stoop”, which translated as “Stooped Busby”.
From time to time, there were daredevils who wanted to test their fate for strength. The details of some of the accidents associated with the killer chair have survived to this day.
In 1967, two young pilots laughed at the legend and defiantly took turns sitting in Thomas Busby's place, after which they left. A few hours later, their car crashed into a tree. Both guys died on the spot.
In the same year, a sergeant in the British Army insisted on sitting down on the famous chair. Three days later, he died of an unknown illness, although military doctors claimed that they did not remember at all when he was last ill.

In 1973, a young builder, sitting in the damned place, fell off the roof 3 hours later. A few years later, the cleaning lady who was cleaning the floor stumbled and accidentally sat down on the edge of a chair. A few weeks later, the woman died of brain cancer.
Everyone who wanted to check Busby's words died under the wheels of cars, got into accidents, fell out of windows. An absurd death or accident was only a matter of time. Local priest Joseph Mainwaying-Taylor repeatedly tried to consecrate the chair, but the death toll continued to grow.
To reduce accidents, the owner of the bar Tony Earnshaw decided to remove the ill-fated object behind the fence. When asked why he doesn't destroy the damned chair, Tony replied: “This chair was created by history, and I have no right to interfere with its course. And above all, I warn everyone about the danger. Well, if someone wants to try their luck, well, this is their own business."
The penultimate victim of the gallows seat was Anne Conelatter, 37, an accountant in Trenton, New York, who was vacationing here. Leaving for England, she boasted to her friends that she would definitely sit on the devil's chair and, upon returning to America, would tell them about her feelings. The staff of the inn, unfortunately, did not have time to prevent her from doing this, and her fate was sealed. Half an hour after she sat on the chair, the woman died in a hotel elevator, which had a broken cable.
And the last victim was Melissa Doloni, who celebrated her birthday with friends at the Busby bar. No one paid attention to how she ended up behind the rope that enclosed the chair. The waiter who served the students noticed her next to the chair and rushed towards her across the hall, shouting … but it was too late. After the party, two blocks from the inn, she was bitten to death by stray dogs.
“She was just an American, who did not attach any importance to stories about all kinds of killer chairs, ghosts, mysticism - considering it all stupid,” said her friend Gaila Gunby. - We drank in honor of Melissa's eighteenth birthday. Most likely, the booze gave her courage. She said she spat on Tom Busby and his chair. The next thing we all saw was a laughing Melissa, who opened another bottle of beer, sitting on the damn chair."
For all the time, the chair killed 65 people and, so that this number does not increase, it was handed over to the local museum. There it was fixed at a height of half a meter, along with a legend, a list of victims and a warning about the curse of the gallows.
