Polish scientists have made a forecast for a global flood that could happen if an asteroid crashes into the moon.

Since the 1960s, scientists have developed and proven the hypothesis that at least 600 million tons of water is located at one of the poles of the Moon, most of which is ice. It is stored in craters or occurs at great depths.

In the summer of 2013, a small asteroid collided with the Moon, which left another crater. If the cosmic body were larger, for example, 1.5 kilometers in diameter, the Moon would all or partially split into millions of small pieces that would remain in the Earth's orbit. The melting ice would cause a rainstorm lasting several hundred years.

In the first year of the global flood, the level of the World Ocean will rise by 20 meters. Amsterdam will be the first to be in the depths of the ocean, after which the water will reach Copenhagen and London, Singapore, Maldives and Tokyo, where a total of 37 million people live.

Scientists calculated that the ocean would flood Poland, Szczecin would disappear in a year after the start of the rains, Poznan in four years, Warsaw in five years, and Krakow in 12. Poles will be forced to climb the mountains, the Zakopane ski resort will become a seaside in 43 years, and Poland's highest peak will disappear in 125 years.

Judging by the map drawn up by Polish scientists, the last major European city to be under water will be Madrid - this will happen in 33 years. In 112 years, the same fate will befall Mexico City - one of the most densely populated megacities on the planet. And the last major city in the world - La Paz, the capital of Bolivia, will disappear from the map of the Earth after 182 years.

After 320 years, the water level will rise so much that it will cover Everest.

Polish scientists report that over time, the entire land will be swallowed up by the ocean and the landscapes will be amazing, but people will see them only if they can build a floating city, like in the movie "Water World".
