When the sun disappears over the horizon and darkness reigns on the earth, many of us rush to reassure ourselves: "Monsters do not exist!" However, this statement is more like self-hypnosis. History knows many people describing cases of meeting with creepy creatures. Before you are real stories of people that look more like scary tales.

Virginia Devil Monkeys

The American state of Virginia is not the first place on the planet that has signaled to the world that it will encounter killer primates. According to Pauline Boyd, the state is teeming with ultra-aggressive creatures with red eyes and sharp claws. Locals call these primates devil monkeys. The silhouette of a creepy individual resembles a baboon, but the muzzle looks more like a dog. Have these primates escaped from the secret laboratory where breeding experiments were carried out? They are described as having strong kangaroo-like legs and a tail, allowing them to jump quickly.

Once Pauline Boyd and her parents were driving over rough terrain. Suddenly a powerful, aggressive creature on its hind legs jumped out of the forest. The meeting with the devil monkey was reminded in the form of three impressive scratches on the windshield of the car. Later, the same specimen attacked a convertible with two women, as a result of which the roof was torn off.

Bigfoot throwing a kite

Many of us do not believe in the existence of Bigfoot. But those who have met a gloomy creature on their way know that it is dangerous to come close to it. In May 2015, a woman was driving along a country road near Jones Creek, Texas. She saw an obstacle in the way and slowed down. Imagine her amazement when the "fallen tree" came to life and stood up to its full height! It was Bigfoot who threw a snake into the car out of anger. And even if the photo of the stranger was not taken, however, as a reminder of that incident, the woman had a reptile.

Demon Cat from Washington

The capital of the United States is said to be crawling with goblins and ghouls, most of whom are politicians in human form. And while encounters with monsters are not uncommon here, one unpleasant beast especially deserves close attention. He prowls around the Congress building and doesn't care about winning the election. Stories about the ghost cat date back to the mid-19th century, when a phantom with red eyes and razor-sharp claws frightened a group of guards. The ghost disappeared only after the shooting began.

In 1898, a security guard walking around the halls of Congress happened to meet with a sinister black cat. Over the years, the phantom has appeared in the basement of the building several times (for example, before the stock market crash in 1929, and also before the assassination of President Kennedy). Eyewitnesses claim that over a century, the black cat has grown to the size of a huge panther. When meeting with him, the guards usually turned to stone, having lost all ability to move.

A strange creature from the first world war

This incident took place on April 30, 1918, when a British patrol spotted a German submarine off the coast of Ireland. However, no battle took place, and the Germans surrendered suspiciously easily. The distraught captain Krech told the British that his crew was attacked by a terrible monster with giant glowing eyes, devil horns and an impressive arsenal of knife-like teeth. The fight with the monster forced the ship's crew to retreat into enemy waters.

The Anfield Horror

On April 25, 1973, a native of Anfield, Illinois, Greg Garrett, playing in the backyard of his parents' house, was attacked by a terrible three-legged monster. According to the boy's description, he was slightly taller than him and did not look like a man or an animal. Later that day, the boy's father heard something scratching at the front door. The man took the gun and opened the door. Before him stood a short monster on three legs. His arms were short and ended in claws, and his body was covered with hair. The astonished man fired four shots, after which he heard strange sounds that imitated the hissing of oil on a hot frying pan.

Arazariguam incident

The Brazilian town of Arazariguama can hardly be called calm. Locals vied with each other to report that they saw werewolves. On March 4, 1946, João Filho Prestes decided to go fishing in the Tieta River while his family was rocking the Filho carnival. Returning home, the fisherman felt a ray of light on his skin, then he smelled a pungent smell of smoke. It is unclear how the poor fellow managed to escape. According to eyewitnesses, the nature of the burns did not resemble the tricks of the fire. Clothes and hair were in order, and arms and legs looked like boiled meat.

Wolf spirit

It is said that when Londoner William Ramsey was 9 years old, he was possessed by an evil spirit. The demon left his body for a while and returned when our hero started a family. One day Ramsey felt a sharp pain in his chest. That visit to Southend Hospital was remembered for a long time by a nurse, trainee and police officer. The evil animal hurried out of the man's chest. Fearing for their lives, the medical staff sent the Englishman to a psychiatric clinic. There, the man claimed to be possessed by a wolf spirit, which neither the bishop nor the paranormal experts could handle. Therefore, an experienced exorcist was called in for a special rite of expulsion from Connecticut. This incident formed the basis of the horror film The Conjuring.

Clown ghost

One day, nine-year-old Oscar Mendoza and his brother watched a parade in San Felipe (Mexico) and heard an explosion. It was a car crashed with clowns, and now they were all dead. However, it was not a joke, as the brothers initially thought. Oscar got out of bed at night to drink water. Turning on the light in the kitchen, the boy saw a bloody clown sitting at the kitchen table. The boy held the door as best he could and heard the sound of wood splitting. All this time the ghost whispered: "Open the door, I want to play with you." Not all clowns love to be laughed at.
