In many languages, the names of the days of the week are somehow associated with celestial bodies. In English, for example, Sunday is the day of the sun, Monday is the moon. Today there are two main versions of the ancient calendar. Julian (named after the Roman general Julius Caesar) came to us from Ancient Egypt in 45 BC.
