From all that we now know, we can confidently say: not only dead people, but also some inanimate objects can act as ghosts, or, better to say, phantoms. For example, trains, huts or motorcycles.

It turns out that airplanes also "tried" to demonstrate themselves as ghosts. True, in this case the question may arise: did the plane actually act as a ghost in this or that case? After all, in essence, a ghost is an image of a person or other animate being. Therefore, most likely, in this case, one should speak not about the ghost as such, but about the phantom of the given object.

However, if we touch upon the cases that will be discussed below, then, most likely, the appearance of aircraft during the Second World War in our time should be called some "objectified" ghosts. And now some examples.

End of November 1989. In the airspace of Belgium, the military captures an unknown object of a triangular shape. It is mistaken for an enemy plane, and a group of fighters flies out to intercept the strange object. But the aircraft that has just been discovered is no longer in the sky! And since the strange object was fixed by the locators, the version with an ordinary mirage was immediately discarded.

March 24, 1997. On this day, residents of the English city of Sheffield arrived in the village of Bolderstone to see the comet Hale-Bopp. However, they failed to satisfy their curiosity. No sooner had twilight really thickened, when something incredible began to happen in the sky: unexpectedly, between nine and ten o'clock in the evening, an airplane appeared over the group of observers with its side lights on. It flew quite low, so those who understand aviation technology subsequently stated that it was an American military transport aircraft DC-3.

People watched with excitement as the plane began to descend sharply, moving towards the forest. And as soon as he disappeared behind a dark wall of trees, there was a deafening explosion, followed by a black column of smoke rising into the sky …

Soon, about a hundred police officers, several mine rescue teams, as well as specially trained search dogs appeared in the alleged area of the disaster. Two helicopters were also involved in the search for the crashed plane.

And although an area of about 130 square kilometers was surveyed for a full day, nothing that even approximately resembled the crash site of the plane was found. For this reason, the search for the crashed plane had to be stopped. Moreover, from the aviation services information about the plane that disappeared in this area was also not received.

In that case, what did the people of Sheffield observe that evening? The question, as expected, remained unanswered …

However, the list of stories with airplanes that unexpectedly appear from nowhere in the sky and suddenly disappear into some unknown place, is not limited to the case over the village of Bolderstone. Something similar happened two years later in the town of Hope, in South York.

On May 22, 1999, at about 12 noon local time, a twin-engined aircraft suddenly appeared in the sky over the city. He flew with a loud roar almost over the very roofs of buildings and fell into the neighboring forest.

This unusual incident within a few minutes forced two helicopters to take off and a team of 50 police officers to arrive at the scene of the alleged accident.

But what was the surprise of all those who were involved in this rescue operation when absolutely no traces were found that would indicate a recent disaster …

Later it turned out that in 1995 and 1997, the police also received appeals from local residents about the fall of twin-engine bombers in the forest. And oddly enough, after studying the archives of the British Air Force, it was established that in 1945 in this forest there really was a catastrophe of the Mosquito FB Mk 26 bomber …

But ghost planes are not only the "attraction" of England. It turns out that they are also observed in Russia. So, there is information that in clear weather in the sky over the village of Yadrovo, Volokolamsk region, you can very often hear the characteristic sounds of a flying plane, after which a slightly blurred silhouette of a Messerschmitt from the Second World War appears, trying to land.

These are just a few instances of aircraft appearing in the sky dating back to the last war. Although experts on anomalous phenomena, several dozen such facts are known.
