Published in February this year on the Ukrainian ufological site, an article by the Kiev ecologist Vladimir Boreyko, debunking the "city rumors" called "Chupacabra" under the title "Chupacabra as an indicator of the stupidity of journalists and the ignorance of society", could not be ignored by researchers of the cryptozoological phenomenon itself, but they still make attempts to understand the miracles taking place, as they say, "in hot pursuit."
Sometimes, according to the descriptions of eyewitnesses, Chupacabra acquired a completely unusual appearance.
In defense of the existence of the phenomenon, in particular, Vladimir Litovka, a biology teacher, teacher-methodologist, author of more than 110 printed publications, spoke out.
Volodymyr Boreyko recited for a long time everything that journalists wrote about the Chupacabra phenomenon in Ukraine. But Vladimir does not provide any refutations or conclusions from official science. The facts of scientific expertise also do not appear. It turns out that science grazes the back, and only journalists are to blame for everything. But on the other hand, if environmentalists read about what journalists write about the Chupacabra, then all is not lost.
“The world around us is cognizable! There are many options for knowing it. But we only use (mostly) two. With the help of official science, we explain all the phenomena that our analyzers and our brain subjectively perceive. And that which goes beyond the bounds of dogma - we declare obscurantism, metaphysics, pseudoscience. So the pseudosciences are: astrology, ufology, cryptophysics, cryptozoology and others. History can already be attributed to this category. After all, she also studies myths, legends, stories. That is, something that cannot be fully or partially confirmed by scientific facts.
The Chupacabra phenomenon really exists. Too many facts have been collected all over the world (including Ukraine), some of them do not even lend themselves to logical analysis. The problem immediately arises, but what will happen next? How will this whole story end? I see three options for the development of the situation:
1. Science reveals the mystery of the phenomenon, debunks the myth of the existence of "cryptids". Then she rests on her laurels. Everything calms down, journalists "lick" their wounds and start looking for an alternative in order to further excite the consciousness of the civilian population. But the paradox is that in other countries (more developed than Ukraine) there is still no result in solving the phenomenon.
2. The mystery of the phenomenon remains unsolved. This is beneficial to everyone. The state partially distracts people from pressing problems. Science aside from events. Journalists are now spreading butter on bread. And everyone remains in their own interests.

3. Another phenomenon of this kind appears. And so on ad infinitum.
I want to say right away - there is no psychosis (especially massive) about the "Chupacabra" phenomenon in the minds of our population. For everyone chooses information for himself. Ordinary citizens are not interested in the opinion of science on the phenomenon. They are waiting for specific help. There is no hope for law enforcement agencies either, because they have their own tasks and specifics of work. The authorities have plenty of other problems. So who needs to deal with these issues?
Several times we, enthusiasts with biological education, tried to establish contact with local or metropolitan scientists. Among whom I have acquaintances and even friends. To the question of what kind of creature terrorizes the population, the answer was quite quick, but varied - it is a fox, a dog, a cat, a marten, an American mink, a wolverine … And what is interesting, each biologist had his "own" animal.
During the period from April 2009 to April 2012, I investigated all cases of the manifestation of the so-called "Chupacabra" phenomenon. At the same time, I had to visit many villages, talk with dozens of local residents who were directly or indirectly involved in the Chupacabra phenomenon. This is a fairly large territory of the Sumy and Chernigov regions (Talalaevsky, Prilutsky, Srebnyansky, Romensky, Burynsky districts). About 10 gigabytes of information was recorded, a lot of effort, energy, financial resources were spent (including the fight against misunderstanding). At least 14 nights I had a chance to sit near swamps, ponds, rivers and forests. I think I have the right to draw some conclusions.
… The silence of our academic science unties the hands of the "yellow" media. So in September 2011. In the Sumy region, in the footsteps of the legendary "Chupacabra", a television group from the NTV channel ("Program Maximum") visited. TV crews from Moscow used only 2% of the footage, which was distorted beyond recognition. But if a representative of official science were in my place, this would not have happened.
Official science is always represented by the state because it finances it. Therefore, blaming journalists for everything and self-flagellation is, at least, unprofessional. Indeed, there is a conflict, but it exists between the media and scientists. The first have to do someone else's work, since a holy place is never empty. The total denial and refutation of any facts is the first sign of the helplessness and powerlessness of science in studying the nature of anomalous phenomena.
Everything that was once written or said always has meaning and the right to exist. After all, only in a dispute the truth is born! - summed up Vladimir Litovka.
