This statement was made by the historian and journalist of Argentina Abel Basti, in his book "Hitler in Exile".

Donald McKale correlated the early source of the legend of Hitler's escape to the Southern Hemisphere with the unexpected and illogical surrender of a German submarine in early July 1945 in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Several Buenos Aires newspapers, despite the denial of the Argentine navy, claimed eyewitnesses who saw rubber boats and submarines in the area. On July 16, 1945, a sensational article appeared in the Chicago Times about Hitler, who allegedly quietly escaped the wrath of the participants in the war in South America.
Ladislao Zsabó, a Hungarian resident, witnessed the arrival of the U-530 submarine and watched the leisurely disembarkation of Nazi leaders. He also heard about the German base in Antarctica, on the basis of which he came to the conclusion that Hitler took refuge in a secret base hidden somewhere in the ice.

Rumors have surrounded the idea of a surviving Hitler so tightly, speculation on the topic is so high that it seems that the Fourth Reich is about to throw off the ice blanket and go out into society.
Hitler, the road of those who fled
When there is so much gossip, the truth is usually there. Basti had been searching for the truth for seven years, conducting a difficult investigation into the death of Hitler. He personally visited the German units, whose safety was ensured by the stern faces of the guards and, having read hundreds of kilograms of old documents, revealed the secret of Hitler's life and death.
It sounds like an April Fool's joke, but it really isn't. Basti's investigation plunges us into the world of secrets of the last century, revealing the innermost secrets of the conspiracy theory of the ruling world.
The journalist managed to talk with living witnesses of those years, and he not only interviewed people who lived near Hitler, but even got photographs of Hitler and Eva Braun, who lived in exile in the post-war years.
Basti wrote that A. Hitler, E. Braun, and some close assistants of the Fuehrer flew from blazing Berlin to Spain. The fugitives then secretly cross the Atlantic Ocean in three submarines, and finally reach the shores of Argentina. In July / August 1945, Hitler and his retinue arrive in the province of Rio Negro, which lies near the village of Caleta and move into the interior of Argentina.

Basti: Hitler lived with his wife and bodyguards, it was a fugitive life, but quite comfortable. They spent the first post-war years in Patagonia, and then moved to the northern provinces of Argentina.
