The flood is like God's punishment, described in more than 200 religious documents, of almost all religious movements. One way or another, the flood is known to every nation and there is almost always a legend about the survivors who gave life to the future generation. But the question of whether the flood was global or local remains open. There is no doubt that there was such a phenomenon.

Scientists know for sure that about 18 thousand years ago, there was a sharp rise in water in the world's oceans. It was not an instantaneous occurrence. But it is assumed that the first relatively advanced civilizations lived on the islands. Which gradually sank under the water. The reasons for this rise in water are described in legends in different ways.

For some it is a supervolcano, for others a minor planet falls to the ground. But one way or another, water buried Atlantis, Hyperborea and Lemuria. By the way, the construction of the Egyptian Sphinx dates back to this period. Traces of water erosion were found at the base of the sphinx. And since the flooding was gradual, many representatives of these civilizations managed to escape. It was they who told their descendants about the first flood.

The next, powerful flood is the biblical flood. In the Old Testament, this flood is described in great detail. Approximately 7 to 5 thousand years ago, this flood also destroyed the most populated part of the land. But the Bible only retells the legend written by the ancient Sumerians. The locality of the flood is indicated by the fact that in Africa not a single legend has been written about such events.

The flood was most likely caused by an earthquake. As a result, the waters of the Mediterranean Sea gushed into the lowland, where there was a small lake. This is how the Black Sea appeared. And if we consider that these territories were densely populated, many survivors survived.

Since in ancient times, among people of different peoples and regions of residence, the connection was very weak or not at all, it is most likely that the floods were different for each human community. So in India, Australia or North America, local local floods, over time, began to unite into one great global flood.

Today, rising temperatures are leading to the melting of glaciers and, accordingly, to a rise in the water level in the oceans. Perhaps we are waiting for another flood, and it will be caused not by God, but by man.
