American and British scientists have shown that by the end of the 21st century, three quarters of the world's population will face deadly heat. The corresponding study was published in the journal Nature Climate Change, briefly reported by The Independent.
Scientists' estimates are fair provided that greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere do not decrease. Otherwise, about half of the world's population will face the deadly heat. The most difficult weather conditions will be in tropical regions of the planet.
According to scientists, the climate is changing so quickly that people are unlikely to have time to adapt to new conditions. Currently, according to the authors' estimates, only one third of the world's population suffers from heat.
Experts came to such conclusions after analyzing more than 1.9 thousand studies on the statistics of human mortality, since 1980, due to the heat. It testifies to the fact that in 2010 more than 10.8 thousand people died in Moscow because of the hot air, in 2003 in Paris - 4.9 thousand, in 1995 in Chicago - 740 people.
