A 41-year-old man regularly bought melanotan-2 from a bodybuilding store, a drug that burns fat and induces tanning-like pigmentation on the skin. Neither the packaging nor the retailer warned that priapism could be one of the negative side effects of melanotan-2. Sale of this product is prohibited in the UK.
Despite the lack of information on the correct dosage, the Scotsman had been injecting himself with Melanotan-2 for several months. According to him, he was pleased with the result until one of the injections caused him to have a long, painful erection. The man tried to crush her with ice, but nothing was achieved. After 22 hours he was taken to the hospital.
To restore normal circulation, the victim was injected with phenylephrine into the genitals every five minutes. Doctors did not rule out that surgery would be needed to solve the problem, but after half an hour the erection disappeared. After this incident, the patient experienced erectile dysfunction for four weeks.
