Psychologists from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands conducted a study, during which they found out whether love exists at first sight.
It should be clarified that 396 people took part in the experiment, mostly students from Germany and the Netherlands, of which about 60% are girls. The respondents were asked to answer the question if they were in a relationship, and then were shown photographs of strangers and asked to describe the feelings that arose, from passion and affection to deep empathy. The participants were also asked if they had ever experienced love at first sight.
After that, the scientists organized several "quick dating" sessions in which the couples spent 20 and 90 minutes with each other. As a result of the meetings, they had to tell if their attitude towards their partner had changed.
Note that at the end of the experiment, 32 respondents reported 49 cases of feelings of love at first sight. However, during the "quick dates", this emotion was not mutual.
