The only remaining monument of the seven wonders of the ancient world - the pyramid of Cheops at Giza - is not ideal. New research reveals a mistake made by the pyramid's creators.

According to Live Science, the director of the Ancient Egyptian Research Association (AERA), archaeologist Mark Lehner and his colleague from the research fund, engineer Glen Dash, announced the flaw in the Cheops pyramid. Recall that AERA has been studying the Cheops pyramid for 30 years. The Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) is part of the complex of ancient monuments on the Giza plateau in the suburbs of Cairo and is the only remaining monument of the seven wonders of the ancient world, or, as they are also called, the seven wonders of the world.

As a result of studying Khufu, the researchers stated that the creators made a mistake in its construction. The base of the pyramid is built slightly crooked, as a result of which the western side of the structure is longer than the eastern one. It was rather difficult to calculate this, since the top of the pyramid was lost, and as a result its height decreased, presumably, from 146.7 m to 137.3 m. “What were the true dimensions of the pyramid - archaeologists, engineers and mystics were looking for an answer to this question for centuries”, - said Glen Dash. In their research, he and his colleagues found traces of the location of the limestone "casing" that once covered the pyramid, although the stones themselves were removed from it many centuries ago, and then used the statistical method of linear regression analysis to determine the length.

As a result, the researchers found that initially the western side of the pyramid was 14.1 cm longer than the eastern one. However, scientists do not consider the flaw critical - for that time, according to archaeologists, it was "amazing accuracy."
