Such use of AI will make it an invaluable helper and will give a person the opportunity to overcome some of the shortcomings caused by his physiology, and will be a lifesaver for people who suffer from memory loss.
Tom believes that thanks to the widespread use of various Internet technologies, as well as smartphones and tablet computers, there is already a fairly large amount of information on the Internet concerning each individual person. If you create a specialized artificial intelligence system, it will be able to collect all the data about a person and will be a kind of "backup memory".
Mr. Gruber also notes that artificial intelligence systems that act as such assistants must be completely safe. If AI allows you to remember what you yourself are not able to remember, then such a "loophole" can be used by an outsider. On the one hand, it looks extremely contradictory and difficult to implement, but on the other hand, more and more developments have been carried out recently that make it possible for a person to interact with a machine. Even Elon Musk recently announced something similar. According to Tom Grubber himself, “Superintelligence can give a person superpowers, as the machines we create become smarter, we, too, in turn become smarter. The introduction of artificial intelligence will make it possible to create an alliance between a machine and a person, each of whose members will make every effort to achieve goals or satisfy human needs. And the question "How smart can we make our cars?" should already sound a bit different: "How smart can machines make us?" Of course, I cannot say how much more time and what exactly it will take to create a symbiosis of artificial intelligence and humans. But I believe that the moment of such symbiosis emergence will come inevitably."
