In May 2017, a resident of the southern part of the American state of Texas posted on Facebook pictures of an unusual trophy - a huge frog. According to Marcus Rangel (author of photographs), such monsters live in a pond at his ranch in Batesville.
The amphibian weighs 13 pounds (almost 6 kg). If the words of the American turn out to be true, the copy he caught will become the Guinness book holder as the world's largest frog.
However, there is reason for doubt. In all the pictures, the animal's corpse is photographed as close to the camera as possible, while the happy toad hunter stands a little further. The photos have sparked controversy among Internet users.
Most people believe that Rangel is holding a frog on a long stick, and an optical illusion is created that the trophy is very large. In fact, such individuals weigh no more than 1 pound (half a kilo). And even the world record holders, African cane toads, are not heavier than 7 pounds (3 kg).
Are the pictures fake? According to the American, all the frogs in his pond grow to enormous sizes, and if someone does not believe, they can always come to visit and see for themselves.
