At Selfridges in London, nine customers were allowed to buy their own personalized version of the Iron Man jetpack suit for £ 340,000. Jetpack was created by English inventor Richard Browning. He showed the first version of the suit back in November 2017. Five miniature jet engines are built into the suit.

In March 2018, Richard Browning attracted strong investment from Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, but has now given the public a chance to try out his invention on their own. Just watch how cool!

How much does a jetpack cost?

Browning has flown in his suit around the world, and on Wednesday flew down a small closed street that houses the luxury Selfridges store. The store now sells personalized Iron Man suits. The price, of course, is exorbitant, as befits celestials.

"The Jet Suit is the equivalent of flying the very first airplane," says Bose Mir, director of technology and menswear at Selfridges. "We are entering an era where aerospace technology is finally available to the consumer and we are proud to be the first to offer it."

The suit, weighing 22 kg, is equipped with electronics and made from 3D printed parts.

Running on jet fuel or diesel, the suit set a speed record of 51 km / h and climb to 3658 meters. During the demonstration, for safety reasons, Browning hovers a few meters above the ground.

“It uses about four liters per minute when vaping, so you can easily fly for three to four minutes. There is another version - on a cold day, when you can squeeze out more thrust, it will fly about nine minutes,”says Browning.

How does the Iron Man suit work?

Formally, Richard Browning debuted his technology in March. This was an early version of the Daedalus costume.

The technology combines body-mounted miniature jet engines and a specially engineered exoskeleton that allows the pilot to take off vertically and use the body for flight control.

Four hand-mounted turbine engines and two knee-mounted engines provide enough thrust to support a person's body weight during extended periods of flight.

Browning says the suit is capable of accelerating to a speed of several hundred kilometers per hour and flying thousands of meters above the ground.
