North American researchers at the University of California are one step closer to being able to read human thoughts. Experts posted their report on the pages of Science.
As noted in the report, scientists were able to detect certain areas in the cerebral cortex that are capable of processing words. To reveal this, experts conducted an experiment in which several hundred volunteers took part. The respondents had to listen to stories on various topics for 2-3 hours, while the researchers monitored the work of their brains using special equipment.
At the end of the experiment, the specialists were able to recreate a certain brain map on a computer, which highlighted certain areas in different colors. For example, green color meant that this area is responsible for the perception of sounds, numbers, signs, and red is involved in receiving and processing data from the social sphere. At the same time, as the researchers found, both hemispheres of the brain functioned the same.
