Augmented reality comes to the construction site. In the USA, they have created a "smart" helmet capable of analyzing the world around them and displaying the information they need before the owner's eyes. The developers promise that their product will change the very nature of the builder's job.
The USA has developed a "smart" helmet. Experts from Los Angeles-based Daqri presented an augmented reality helmet specially designed for the construction site. The developers assure that the device is capable of increasing both labor efficiency and work safety. With the help of a special non-scratching visor, the smart helmet shows its owner an image of reality, supplemented by information in the form of pictures and inscriptions.
360-degree cameras and sensors capture and recognize objects and objects around the user, generating the necessary data. The helmet can take readings of devices, give out characteristics of devices, read parameters of objects, etc. Using X-ray technology, the helmet shows the user details that are hidden from view, for example, the internal structure of a pipe. This feature, as conceived by the developers, will speed up fault detection and repair.
In addition, the wearer can save the information he needs, such as instructions or a safety guide, in the smart helmet's memory. The smart helmet reads your movement in space, instantly creates a map of the environment and reconstructs reality in 3D.
When such a helmet is used by several specialists at once, they can exchange data and thus build a full-fledged model of the construction object,”the creators promise. Daqri is confident that their product will change "the nature of a builder's job." The smart helmet is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2016.
