The young man, who fell into a coma after a car accident, woke up as a completely different person. 25-year-old Briton Rory Curtis was quite sure that he was the actor Matthew McConaughey. In addition, the man spoke in French, which he had once studied at school and had long forgotten.

The Briton was seriously injured in an accident, Metro notes. His car crashed into a truck, and then six more cars drove into them. Curtis was taken to the hospital with a cerebral hemorrhage. Before that, however, the rescuers took him out of the crumpled car for 40 minutes.

Curtis regained consciousness six days after the accident. “I was completely convinced that I was Matthew McConaughey. When I went to the toilet and looked in the mirror, I was just shocked, because I don't look like him. I didn't know who I was looking at,”Curtis recalls. According to the man, while he considered himself a famous actor, he was looking forward to the moment when he could leave the hospital and act in films again. “I was completely convinced that I was him and that I looked good. These thoughts gave me hope,”said Curtis.

The man called communication in French at least strange. “I didn’t even pass exams in French - and then I suddenly spoke fluently. I cannot explain why this happened. It's incredible,”he said. Curtis admitted that he did not remember how he came to his senses. But his family said that one of the nurses turned out to be French-speaking African. It was with her that Curtis talked.

The Briton was completely fluent in telling the nurse in French how he felt. And when his mother and father came to him at the hospital, the doctors asked them which of them was French. And then a stunning picture appeared before them - their son, fluently speaking in a foreign language.

“At school I didn't know the language very well, so I can't even imagine how my brain did it. I can't say how I know the language - I just know everything,”said the man. He added that after the accident he reconsidered his lifestyle: "I cannot leave home without telling my family that I love them and without hugging them."

Rory Curtis was treated with the latest medication, which was developed with the participation of the British Department of Defense for soldiers who were seriously injured in the service. The innovative drug worked: Curtis was allowed to go home two months after the accident, which occurred back in August 2012. It took him many months to recover, but in the end the man managed to recover and got a job as a hairdresser.

This is not the first time that people acquire new abilities after waking up from a coma. In September, it was reported that an Australian emerged from this state and spoke Chinese. However, he forgot his native English.
