When the ambitious project Mars One was just conceived, it was assumed that the conquest of the Red Planet within its framework would begin in 2012. Then the deadline was slightly shifted, promising to start in 2024. Then there were several more postponements, and now the project manager, inventor and businessman from Holland Bas Lansdorp, has named a new date.
Mars One, according to Lansdorp, will launch in 2032. By this time, a colony will appear on the surface of the fourth planet of the solar system, inhabited by astronauts who have arrived from Earth. Which are to be fruitful and multiply, bringing closer the day when Mars will become the second full-fledged home of mankind.
“We have practically settled all the financing issues, so the emergence of a stationary colony on Mars is now only a matter of time. The next stage of the project will start in 2019 - we will begin the next selection of colonists, within which forty people will remain out of a hundred existing applicants,”Bas Lansdorp says in an interview with the Khaleej Times.
It is estimated that four people will arrive on Mars in 2032 - two women and two men. Two years later, the next batch of colonists will join them, another two years later, and so on.
