Inner work is infinitely more important than any form of outer activity. It is simple to say, but a real shift in the focus of attention inward requires a certain maturity, which is expressed in a significant weakening of personal interest in the affairs of the world and in self-discipline.
Nothing external is able to give that state of enduring, inexpressible happiness and completeness that a person experiences when he realizes the nature of his own consciousness.
On the emotional level, working with consciousness means a state of utmost sincerity in relation to oneself and to the people around. If you are in pain, you feel this pain in its entirety and do not try to get away from it or hammer it with something.
If you are bored, you become boredom itself, without trying to dispel it. No matter what happens, you are not trying to deceive yourself and pass off what is happening as something else - as something that in fact the emotion you are experiencing is not.
At the level of the mind, inner work means getting out of the grip of bustling thoughts and directing them into a single channel. The continuous flow of thought in one direction creates an indestructible inner aspiration and leads to the emergence of inertia of movement, which can no longer be stopped.
On the energetic level, working with consciousness means strengthening and refining the vibrational frequency of the aura. An increase in the field voltage inevitably attracts higher vibrations, the continuous flow of which is perceived as a stream. These vibrations are the force that cleans the consciousness and brings it into a state of balance.
At the level of the will, work means submitting all life-manifestations to the unyielding desire to achieve liberation. Human life, directed by such a will, obeys other laws than the life of other mortals. But in order to discover these laws, you need to follow the path of freedom.
And on this path, a person is not alone, he inevitably leads to the Brotherhood - a great community of liberated souls that exists both on the subtle and on the physical planes, attentively watching over every true seeker and helping him.
