In the liver of a resident of Krasnoyarsk, an alveococcus node developed for several years. The parasite increased in size, but made itself felt only when the owner had practically no chance of life. It took the surgeons 13 hours to perform the operation and remove the "stranger" from the patient.
Six months ago, a resident of Krasnoyarsk got a pain in his right side. An ultrasound scan revealed a gallbladder stone and prescribed treatment. But the pain did not let go and was not at all like bilious colic. After the tomography, everything became clear: the liver was affected by cysts due to a parasitic disease - alveococcosis.
Alveococcus larvae enter the human body after contact with dogs or, for example, when eating unwashed forest berries. In the intestine, the larva emerges from the egg and is carried with the bloodstream into the liver, where it is almost always retained. In the liver, it turns into a bubble with a diameter of 2-4 mm, which begins to bud. Gradually, a dense parasitic tumor with a diameter of 1 to 30 cm and even more forms in the liver. On the cut, the alveococcus node looks like porous bread, it consists of a large number of chitinous vesicles. The alveococcus cyst grows like a tumor and, without treatment, inevitably leads to death. It can grow into blood vessels and bile ducts.
A 42-year-old patient from Krasnoyarsk had a liver cyst of 9 by 6 centimeters, in addition, there were many cysts ranging in size from 0.5 to 4 cm in the liver hilum. They have already destroyed some vessels, damaged a large portal vein, approached the pancreas, stomach, and struck the lymph nodes.
It took the surgeons of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital more than 13 hours to rid the patient of parasites. First, the "metastases" of the alveococcus were removed, and then - a large parasitic focus in the IV segment of the liver. In the hospital itself, the tumor was nicknamed "alien."
- Here is a description of an alveococcus cyst cut from the liver: "Conglomerate of multi-chamber cavities 7.0x8.0 cm, cavity formations are represented by merging cavities with a diameter of 0.5-1.0 cm, filled with yellow detritus or thick mucus." Agree - like a frame from a science fiction film, the hospital press service notes.
The patient is now preparing for discharge from the abdominal surgery department. He walks, eats, gradually gains weight.
