In the early 1950s, an expedition from the Institute for the History of Material Culture (St. Petersburg) and the Khakass Research Institute of Language, Literature and History excavated a grandiose Salbyk mound. The famous archaeologist Sergey Kiselev was in charge of the work. After removing thousands of years of layers, scientists saw a very impressive picture reminiscent of the famous English stonehenge.

The salbyk was built 24 centuries ago, its perimeter is 70 by 70 meters. Megaliths, which weigh from 50 to 70 tons, were brought over a hundred kilometers from the banks of the Yenisei. How is still not clear.

After the megaliths were installed in a strict geometric progression, they were overlaid with clay briquettes, the result being a pyramid that is not inferior in grandeur to the distant Egyptian and American sisters.

The construction of the Khakass mound took much more time than the famous English stonehenge.

Scientists believe that the large Salbyk mound is the largest in the middle Yenisei basin. Its construction dates back to the times of the so-called Tagar culture.

By the beginning of excavations (1954-1956), the mound had already been plundered, inside it were found the remains of three people, one of whom, according to scientists, was a noble figure of his tribe.

For the first time, a description of the large Salbyk mound was compiled in 1739 by the Russian scientist and traveler Gerard Friedrich Miller during the "First Academic Expedition" of 1733-1743.

In the early 2000s, scientists were able to excavate another mound, which fell into the zone of the so-called valley of the kings, where, in fact, the Salbyk giant is located. The story turned out to be scandalous, since the main task of the expedition was to find gold in a burial called badger log. Specialists from Germany were involved in the work, where, apparently, the artifacts were supposed to go after the end of the work. However, nothing of value was found inside. And the badger log itself turned out to be much more modest in all its parameters than its gigantic neighbor.

The Valley of the Kings itself stretches over an area of 5 square kilometers. But so far there has been no comprehensive approach to the study of this unique natural boundary. As there are no studies of other mounds, which cover almost the entire south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia and Tuva. Formally, they are protected by the state, but in fact, black archaeologists are practically not controlled by anyone. Advertisements for the sale of metal detectors can be seen in many local newspapers and in public places.

The official archeology also has not much time left for the buildup, the ancient burial mounds are almost everywhere razed to the ground, many of them are plowed up for arable land. In 2013, as a result of the plowing of one of the mounds in the Karatuz region, several stones with ancient writing were turned up on the surface, as well as a unique small artifact.

The author of Nakhodka passed it on to the author of the material, orientalist Andrei Polyakov, who was then in these places on an expedition. The artifact was submitted for evaluation to specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum.

“Such Bricks (in the Photo Below) of Rectangular Shape Were Used as Whetstones for Editing Bronze Knives and Daggers,” identified the Nakhodka Vasily Privalikhin, Ph. D. in History, employee of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum. The scientist attributed the artifact to the same Tagar culture, dating it to the second - seventh centuries BC.

In my opinion, scientists need to conduct a comprehensive study of the ancient burial mounds in order to answer the question, what kind of civilization existed on the vast territory of Russia during the Bronze Age and what was it for the present civilization? © Andrey polyakov.
