Chomolungma, better known as Everest, is the highest mountain in the world. It is located in the Greater Himalayas, on the border of China and Nepal. The height of the main peak reaches 8848 meters.

Every year up to 500 brave men try to conquer Everest, many of whom are faced with strange, mystical phenomena. There is a huge amount of testimony of climbers who claim that they saw ghosts while climbing.

Every self-respecting climber should believe in the spirits of Everest, and honor the memory of those who could and did not return. Several hundred climbers died while trying to conquer Everest. The bodies of most of them have not yet been found. Few people think about the fact that the snow of the mountain hides many frozen dead, nondevotees worthy of the earth.

Many skeptics are inclined to explain the appearance of ghosts by natural phenomena, poorly understood at high altitudes. Nevertheless, there are examples that still cannot be explained by modern science.

In 1975, Nick Ascot, a member of the British Everest Expedition, encountered an incredible phenomenon. This incident threw his practical European mind into confusion.

The climber climbed to the fifth camp using ropes. Moonlight flooded everything around; the snow seemed to glow in the dark. Having risen 60-70 meters above the fourth camp, he suddenly noticed a human silhouette behind his back. The fellow traveler quietly followed the climber and stopped if he froze.

Having reached the fifth camp, Ascot decided to find out on the radio - who followed him. He was told that no one came out after him, but in the evening one of the expedition members, cameraman Mick Burke, died.

In 2004, the climber Sherp P. Dorje, after a difficult but successful ascent, saw something incredible - shadows resembling human silhouettes were advancing on him. There were about ten of them. Ghostly shadows begged for warmth and food, reaching out their translucent arms. Frightened, Dorje turned sharply and hurried to continue the descent.

Subsequently, he told this story to reporters. After his interview, the president of the Nepalese organization of mountaineers, Ang Tsering, himself suggested that these were the souls of the dead climbers and they would not rest until they were buried properly.

After this incident, the Nepalese perform a ritual at each ascent to calm the souls of the dead climbers. They burn the juniper branches on the hillside, scatter rice and say prayers. According to popular belief, this ritual should give warmth to the dead and appease their hunger.

Another strange encounter with ghosts was described by legendary Italian climber Reingold Messner, who conquered Everest alone without special oxygen equipment. It is noteworthy that Reingold differed from many in his rational mind and impartiality of assessments.

Suddenly, on the approaches to the top of his hearing, voices were touched, which were getting closer and closer. In the translucent air, Reingold saw figures walking slowly along the side of the mountain at the place where two climbers died in 1924. The spirits called Reingold to him and prayed for warmth and food, but the shocked and frightened climber chose to move along the planned route, since he decided that he had visions from a lack of oxygen.

It is no secret that at high altitudes the air is rather thin, there is strong ultraviolet radiation in it, which affects the human psyche. Skeptics claim that ghosts and spirits of the mountains are common hallucinations caused by thin air and lack of oxygen. But strange hallucinations can appear only at critical altitudes, and collisions with ghosts occurred at lower altitudes.

Esoteric experts say the opposite. In their opinion, such extreme factors awaken in a person an incredible ability to see the invisible. In the thin air of the highlands, human consciousness undergoes a change, sensory perception becomes sharper, we can briefly go out into another reality, which science is not yet able to explain.
