Attentiveness to the surrounding events, patience and some dose of luck - that's all you need to witness the appearance of UFOs in our places. For now, I will not even guess why there are relatively many of them - "plates" - in our places. I will not because not a single hypothesis has yet a sufficient evidence base and is based only on assumptions and general patterns of behavior of the phenomenon known from Russian and world ufological practice. However, bias in the study of UFOs is unacceptable. However, how unacceptable it is everywhere and always, and this is well shown by the arrogant opinion of Professor Newcomb given in the epigraph, which was refuted in practice just a few months later.

The huge, without exaggeration, volume of information about UFO sightings accumulated by Russian and foreign researchers (and our relatively modest contribution to this volume, expressed in several hundred eyewitness reports) allows us to be convinced of the following. Whatever unusual characteristics the objects possess, the origin and goals of which are not yet known to us, no matter how strange they seem to us, no matter how infrequent (within the life of one person), but regular (within the life of society) they are, these objects and related phenomena are an integral part of our human world. And this part of our life needs to be studied meticulously and actively. Especially because it affects each of us and our society as a whole: our culture and religion, our physiology and our nature. Affects no matterwhether we want to recognize the reality of the UFO Phenomenon or try to hide from it, like an ostrich, pushing the UFO problem beyond the scientific paradigm due to its allegedly "unscientific" nature.
Moreover, for all the paradoxicality of the phenomenon, the question of the natural or artificial origin of these objects is not at all the main one. It is more important to find the patterns inherent in this class of phenomena, to understand the mechanisms of their existence and the reasons for such close coexistence (and perhaps interdependence) with the human race. April 1991, city forest near Medgorodok
Here is just one of the stories that was told to us by Anna Aleksandrovna, who was treated in Medgorodok in 1991.
The windows of her room overlooked the forest. One day she noticed that in the forest it was as if a corridor had been cut - the pines were shorter in height. Something interested her, she began to observe and, to her surprise, noticed how a cigar-shaped object very quickly appeared and hovered over this part of the forest ("… as if something was thrown from above"). True, Anna Alexandrovna used a purely feminine comparison of the object with a tube of lipstick, since one end of it was rounded, and from the other she noticed light exhausts, light and quickly dissolving in the air, as if steam were thrown out in a cloud. The classic cigar color is gray. Hanging in the air for about a minute and a half, the "cigar" tumbled sharply at a right angle and very quickly sank, almost fell into the forest.
Anna Alexandrovna did not leave the window, and her patience bore fruit - after a short time, a gray spherical object rose from the landing site of the "cigar" (much darker in color than the "cigar"). On low level flight, repeating the shape of the line formed by the tops of the pines, he headed towards the Prilesye dispensary.
And everything would look like a classic anomalous phenomenon (that is, you were surprised once, and do not expect a repetition), if the events did not repeat itself in the same order from the first days of April to its middle, and if the strange "cigar" did not flew in as scheduled - every day at 17-00 with an accuracy of plus or minus a few minutes.
The appearance of cigar UFOs in our area is not uncommon. Here are just a few more cases described directly by eyewitnesses.
Summer 1968, about midnight, p. Bakhilovo
A local woman was returning from dancing. Accidentally raising her eyes, she saw a luminous "cigar" in the night sky, which was clearly and quickly approaching her side. The girl remembers well the fear that gripped her, and the strange "waves" coming from this luminous object. The force emanating from the object, although it did not have a visible material carrier, had the same effect as if a person stood immersed in water and felt strong underwater waves from a passing ship.
When the cigar-shaped UFO was almost over the girl, she fell to the ground from the wave of horror that covered her, covered her head with a jacket (a child's instinct worked when it seems that if you get under the covers with your head, then nothing is scary).
According to some other signs, in this case there was a so-called abduction (abduction), but it has not yet been possible to establish this unambiguously.
May 11, 1990, 1145, Togliatti, Tsentralny district
A resident of the Central District accidentally noticed the flight of a cigar-shaped object without any external details and "side lights". The UFO flew low over houses along Banykin Street towards the Komsomolsk District. After a short freeze, the "cigar" jumped off at great speed and disappeared from sight. There are several eyewitnesses.
January 7, 1991, 3 a.m., Kurumoch airport
At a low altitude above the runway, a cigar-shaped UFO up to 30 meters in length hovered for 10 minutes. According to the descriptions of eyewitnesses, he was not going to disguise himself - he illuminated the surrounding space with bright windows on the sides and multi-colored "flashing lights". Apparently, having completed some business at the airport, the "cigar" slowly flew away towards Togliatti.

I will not describe all cases of observation of cigar-shaped UFOs over Togliatti and its environs, there are a lot of them. I would like to draw the attention of eyewitnesses (both already held and potential ones, who may have to face unidentified objects in the future) to this.
Often, UFOs are divided into several parts, change their shape, combine again into a single whole, and this process can be repeated several times - this feature is called polymorphism. And our database also contains examples of this unusual UFO property. Let's say this one.
1992, summer, the shore of the reservoir in the Komsomolsk district of Togliatti
A resident of the Komsomolsk district, according to him, "did not even expect to see anything like that." He just sat down to rest on the beach. Either the noise, or some other feeling made him look around. Not more than 10 meters away from it, on the border of the coast and the water surface, there was a certain multifaceted object about three meters across with hexagonal lateral planes and spherical bulges at the corners of this structure. The object rotated around its axis. Either from the unusualness of what was happening, or from surprise, but the person became scared. He could not find any analogues for this object either then or later when he told us about this incident.
At some point in time, this entire structure vibrated, crumbled and fell into the water. And immediately one of the parts of the structure, resembling a sleeve in shape (it was expanded from below, a glow was observed along the edges of the expansion, there were three light sources in the same place), took off. What happened to the rest of the units is unknown, because our observer, let's say, decided to quickly retreat from the scene.
Even in the "anomalous database", this case stood out for a long time. Exactly until another eyewitness - a resident of Samara - told about what he saw with his own eyes on the banks of the Samara River. Either there a pipeline in the middle of the fairway burst, or some other emergency happened, but a fountain of gas mixed with water gushed out from under the water.
A large dark disc-shaped body descended from the clouds to this area, passed over the water, leaving behind a strip of fog or liquefied gas, and then, reaching the highway, turned into a large black car and disappeared. A story worthy of Hollywood science fiction films. But it happened with us …

It may be a pity, but from time to time you have to disappoint those who, due to their inexperience and ignorance of the night sky, take Venus, Jupiter (they are the brightest in our sky), and sometimes large stars behind UFOs. Therefore, the first rule for novice observers is to look at the same place in the firmament at the same time on another day. If your "stranger" turns out to be in the same place, it means that this is not a UFO at all … And no security measures need to be taken.
Although when meeting with a real "flying saucer" knowledge of safety precautions does not hurt at all.
