Why did flights to the moon stop?
There is an opinion that flights to the moon stopped because of aliens. And this opinion is shared by not so few people. It even became known that, allegedly in 1972, at a meeting of the American Senate, a report was heard on the activities of intelligent forces unknown to people on the Moon. At the same time, as it was stated, these forces are hostile to humanity. In this connection, the flights were terminated.
Be that as it may, NASA will certainly not tell the whole world about contacts with extraterrestrial intelligence. This can lead to unforeseen consequences: is it possible, in one fell swoop, to break the age-old worldviews that have been established in human consciousness. It is not in vain that the English hacker Harry McKinnon, who hacked the Pentagon and NASA networks in 2002 with the intention of opening the veil of secrecy, faces up to 60 years in prison. In one of his interviews, he claimed to have found on NASA servers a large amount of indisputable evidence that the facts of the existence of UFOs are hidden from the public.
Someone may not know that American astronauts landed on Earth's satellite more than once, but not less than six. The first was Apollo 11. 1969, July 20 - N. Armstrong and E. Aldrin landed on the Moon, and on July 21 a human foot stepped onto the lunar surface for the first time. They were there for 21, 5 hours of which 2, 5 were outside the cabin of the lunar module. It is about this landing that the debate does not stop - was it in reality or not.
As we know, rumors that astronauts on the moon saw alien ships have long been leaked to the press. The official authorities denied these rumors, but it was clear that the astronauts really met something shocking on the moon. Two astronauts landed on the lunar surface - A. Armstrong and E. Aldrin, the third member of the team - M. Collins - remained on the ship in the orbit of the Moon. The Americans who landed on the moon had two types of communication - internal, for conversations with Collins and with ground flight control services, and external, through which a live television broadcast of everything that happened to the astronauts was conducted.
There was a moment when Armstrong, walking on the lunar surface, switched the microphone to the internal communication channel and began to speak in a loud voice excitedly: “I can't understand what's going on here? Directly opposite us, on the other side of the crater, there are spaceships, more than ours, from which we are being watched! The second American, Aldrin, turned out to be cooler, he continued to communicate with the Earth on the television channel as if nothing had happened …
Then there was Apollo 12. 1969, November 19 - Ch. Konrad and A. Bin were outside the module cabin for about eight hours, moving away from it by 500 meters. In total, they spent 37.5 hours on the moon. The Apollo 13 astronauts miraculously managed to save their lives; they never set foot on the moon's surface. During their approach to the moon, their oxygen cylinder exploded. To conserve energy, everything on the ship was turned off except for the life support system. The people took refuge in the landing module. At a distance of thousands of kilometers from Earth, they floated in a dark, cold ship. Their bodies were exhausted to the limit, but the spirit of the astronauts did not fall, they were able to withstand all the tests, having reached the Earth, they landed successfully.
Apollo -14, -15, -16, -17 successfully coped with the mission entrusted to them, and the astronauts of these ships were on the Moon. The last expedition was visited by the scientist, 37-year-old doctor of geology from Harvard, Harvard Schmitt, as an astronaut. This flight was not only the last, but also a record one in terms of its performance. The astronauts were on the moon for 75 hours, drove 38.7 km in an electric car at speeds up to 18 km / h, taking with them 117 kg of lunar soil. In total, their flight lasted 12 days 14 hours.

It should be noted in what conditions the lunar program was implemented. Tough competition between the Soviet Union and America. A battle fought between two superpowers for victory in the minds of all mankind. The space battle has become only a part of this so-called Cold War. The first achievements of the USSR in space put America in the role of catch-up. Realizing the importance of the victory in the lunar race, the US government took a "horse step", sparing no money or people. The flights to the moon cost $ 26 billion, which is 10 times more than the creation of an atomic bomb. During the first Apollo test, the astronauts Grissom, White, and Chaffee were killed.
And after the Apollo 11 flight, public interest in the US space program declined sharply. Ordinary Americans began to send complaints to TV channels for the cancellation of their favorite programs due to the broadcast of flights. The show, so to speak, is over. The Soviet Union implemented its program of launching artificial satellites of the Moon, delivering lunar rovers to the lunar surface, which was much cheaper and much safer, since the death of people was excluded. But the result was no less sensational.
Therefore, although at one time it was announced about Apollo -18, -19, -20 …, I had to stop at the 17th. After all, the main task was solved: the United States proved its superiority to everyone, and there was no point in continuing flights.
George W. Bush at the time, it was promised that the Americans will return to the moon by 2020, and in addition, they will land on Mars! Perhaps this kind of statements were connected with the fact that the aliens gave, in the end, the "green light" for new flights, and perhaps with the successfully developing space program of the Chinese - America's new rival in the struggle for world domination. it was, the crisis did not allow this idea to materialize, and the budget proposal for the fiscal year submitted by Obama to Congress for the lunar program was not.
So what was the real reason for the termination of human flights to the moon? Aliens? Everything is more prosaic. After the political ambitions of the Americans subsided, it became clear: investing huge amounts of money in astronaut flights to the moon is not profitable. Such an idea as the landing of a man on the moon, in the form of an ideological tablet for raising patriotism, has exhausted itself. A sociological study has shown that half of the American population does not see the point in further funding the program. And the space agency was not eager to continue flights. Any unforeseen development of events or sacrifices could have the exact opposite of a triumphant effect.
