Psychologists told why you need to believe in miracles. I must say that this is not such a rare occurrence. Belief in miracles is common. These beliefs are not limited to specific age groups and religious affiliations.

A survey of almost 36,000 people aged 18 to 70 showed that 78% of people under the age of 30 believe in a miracle, and among those over 30 such 79%. The Pew Research Center also found that 83% of religious people believe in miracles.

Some people have such beliefs regardless of the circumstances, but many only come to such beliefs in certain situations. Hope in a powerful supernatural being (eg, God, angels, saints) helps sufferers cope with difficult situations.

In a medical context, faith in God and / or the competence of the medical professionals treating them can provide not only powerful psychological comfort, but also a better treatment outcome. This is especially important when the patient believes that powerful forces are at work through doctors.

When medical professionals predict that there is little chance of a patient's recovery, it is not uncommon for the patient and / or family members to believe the forecast, especially if they are hoping for divine intervention. And belief in a miracle in such cases is useful in increasing the likelihood of recovery.
