Nippon Television has reported that an unidentified flying object, a UFO, has sunk off the coast of Okinawa, an island on the southern tip of Japan. Several news groups, police squads and ambulances have seen a "UFO shell" in the water, several sources say.

“We saw something like a small domed boat slowly sinking into the water when we arrived at the scene,” said Hideki Suzuki, Okinawa Prefecture Police Chief. “We clearly saw the smoke from the object as it went down. Steam rose as he disappeared into the depths of the ocean. We expect an investigation into the incident to begin and the vessel to be examined. As soon as we get the equipment, we will lift it out of the water."

Some eyewitnesses share their impressions of what they saw. Nippon Television tells the story of an elderly male fisherman who was in a small boat off the coast. He said he saw a giant racing fireball flying through the skies at a very high speed. The object traced the sky, crashed into the water, and then returned to the sky safe and sound. The elderly man says he thought he heard the distant sound of engines trying to restart, just minutes before the unknown object started emitting smoke.

A team of scientists was also dispatched from Tokyo to investigate the UFO as soon as the relevant authorities lifted the sunken ship out of the water.

“This could be one of the greatest discoveries of humanity,” said Dr. Daisuke Matsui, professor of aviation engineering at the University of Tokyo. “If this is what we believe, then the children of our children will talk about it. Let's keep our fingers crossed to confirm that this is the real thing."

Nippon Television reported that Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda has already been notified of the emergency landing and is awaiting a report from the authorities on the events in Okinawa.

The Japanese navy has already cordoned off the crash site and is preparing divers to launch into the water to gain insight into the vessel and take photographs for disposal purposes. There is no doubt that the fleet will actively participate in retrieving UFOs from the depths of the ocean.
